“Datz Press in South Korea will be publish-ing Islands, a portfolio/book of photographs I made on Jeju Island during my trip to Korea last October. It will be published this August. Also, as the first edition of Flowing (published by Datz Press) is close to selling out, the second edition will be coming out by September. Both Flowing and Islands will be at available at the Datz Press booth, at the New York Art Book Fair.”
Levin in LensWork and LensWork Extended #107Water People
“While my photography has consisted of many aspects of the underwater world, I have been fascinated with photographing people within the ocean. In particular, these photographs have concentrated on people who are not only at home in the water, but who are absolutely in tune with the sea: Water People.”

Freeman in LensWork #31The Cruise Series
“The photographs deal with the architecture of the ships; the emphasis was on the quality of light and its definition of the space. The ships were all at sea, but people were always below deck in the late afternoon when I photographed.”

Featured in National Geographic“It’s probably every young photographer’s dream to have their work featured in National Geographic. I seem to be one of the lucky ones, as Nat Geo published some
of my work recently, along with a very nice interview/article.
“See and read more for yourself on National Geographic’s Proof.
PhotoLucida 2015“I had a great time meeting with reviewers and fellow photogra-phers from around the
world at PhotoLucida in April. This year I showed my new encaustic work from the Wallflowers series. Lots of great feedback and some exciting opportunities coming up!
Upcoming Events“I’ll be teaching a photo workshop in Santa Fe in August. I’ll also be photographing in Boston, LA, and NYC this summer.
“In November I’ll be visiting China again, where the Skeleton in the Closet series will be on display at the Lishui Photography Festival.”
”We’ve all navigated the rocky terrain of adolescence. It is an awkward and painful stage of life for most people. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood socially, mentally, spiritually, and physically, kids are trying to figure out who they are, and who they are becoming.”

Mark Maio and Rockhopper Workshops explore Glencoe, Scotland!
October 4 -10, 2015

This project – 16 years in the making – shows us a now-vanished way of life. How does one empty a 600-foot ship filled with grain? One shovel-full at a time; at least they did it this way for generations. Mark Maio photographed the last of these hardworking people and their way of life.

Different Perspectives Lens-based, abstract, mixed media imagery
“Current ongoing series concerned with counterpoint, color fields, light, structure, tension, and balance/imbalance. I am intertwining architectural design with my imagery. For instance, Guilio Romano’s Palazzo del Tei (a Mannerist building that I consider a major influence) is about tension and the unexpected – almost a lack of structural integrity. I am definitely going in this direction. These elements have been present in my work from the beginning but are pushed in a new direction. My architectural background and interests are surfacing. Music is another theme, such as the Bartok string quartets and Thelonius Monk playing his ‘Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are.’ As well, my lack of interest in the camera’s ability to capture reality is becoming more prevalent.”Read More
“Texas Rangeland began on a trip to Marathon, Texas, near Big Bend in 1995. I was on a lonely stretch of highway between Marathon and Marfa, and a big Brahma bull was standing near the road behind a barbwire fence. He was standing there as if waiting for me. My wife was driving; we had gone about a mile and she noticed how quiet I was. She has a way of knowing where I’m at and asked if I wanted to go back. I surprised myself by saying yes.”

Pullar in LensWork and LensWork Extended #106Old China
“This portfolio arose out of an intensive two-week trip to China, in which I traveled to seven cities while covering more than 10,000 km (6,200 miles). China is the world’s oldest continuous civilization, and the engine-room for the world’s manufacturing – a melting pot of photographic possibilities.”

“Selecting from the best of more than 2,500 images received over the past six months, Sydney Morning Herald photo editor Mags King, The Age photo editor Leigh Henningham, traveller.com.au editorial producer Kylie McLaughlin, and Fairfax Media’s Clique Photographers Association manager Louisa Kirby have chosen a winner.
“Congratulations to Garry Pullar for his winning image of Varanasi, in The Big Picture, a competition for amateur photographers.”
As of issue #119, LensWork (magazine) now publishes both color and black-and-white work.
We always enjoy the opportunity to look at new work. In fact, about half of what we’ve published in LensWork and LensWork Extended comes from submissions that were originally unsolicited, that is to say, from readers and subscribers like you. We love giving exposure to photographers who are doing good work but are not plugged-in to the publicity machines that galleries and traditional publishers provide!
Our submission guidelines are available in the link below. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9 or greater to open this file.) Please review these submis-sion guidelines and then feel free to send in your work for consideration.
Obviously, we can’t publish everything that is submitted, but we also can’t publish work that isn’t ever submitted! The best way to start is to send in the work and let us take a look. Thanks!
Note: As of August 2015, we no longer accept physical submissions (on disc, thumbdrive, or prints). Submissions are accepted only via digital delivery like Dropbox, Hightail, DropSend, WeTransfer, etc.
