Users will no longer be required to close ML months in the latest release of Emortelle v9.1b. However,
users who wish the addional protecon of securing closed periods, may perform the ML close funcon,
which will merely make a copy of the closed period transacons and will be completed in under 5 minutes.
Addionally, the funcon can be performed while the system is acve and does not require interrupng
ATM or GIA online services.
The feature will increase overall efficiency and eliminate the potenal for a)er closing inconsistency, due to
the extensive and intrusive operaons previously performed by this funcon.
In order to ensure read only access to closed periods, Emortelle v9.1 will introduce the concept of an Audit
Date. The Audit Date should reflect the actual external audit date and has the following properes:
Absolutely no ML or GL transacons are allowed on/before this date
This date cannot be reset or changed by user
Must be incremented by a special user in the Set Date module.
Emortelle v9.0 and v9.1a customers can contact Technical Support to implement this cost free feature.
To develop and deliver reliable, feature-laden software, quality customer service and the highest
quality solutions to our customers, resulting in end user satisfaction, thereby positioning the company as
a leading, total solutions provider.
To be the industry leader in software development within the Caribbean, Central & Latin America region,
providing the highest standards in quality, customer service, and software solutions for the financial
services sector, and all other related industries.
Did you know that you can set the System to auto generate specific reports?
The Job Streams module can be used to specify which reports should be run automacally and gives the user the
ability to indicate the frequency that these auto reports should be generated. The user can specify up to 10 reports
that can be generated automacally
Once the Job Streams have been setup to run in the auto process, when the user logs in (a user with auto process turned on), the System will
a5empt to run the job streams. The System will determine whether the next run date of any of the reports is the current date or has passed. If any
sasfy this criterion, it will generate the report using the work date (end date) of the report as the last month end. If the current date is a month end
then the current date will be used. Once completed, the system will increment the next run date appropriately and the report will be saved to the
output file indicated in the module.
Contact an MSD Representave to have this feature acvated.

MISSION
VISION
Staff Corner– MSD’s Internship
MSD welcomed two interns, Mr. Nicholas Dookie and Mr. Kheshwar Parsan, to our Quality Control and Assurance Department for the period August
3rd
to September 30th
2015, on a contractual basis. Mr. Dookie and Mr. Parsan were hired to assist during this busy period with the intent of being
offered a permanent posion at the end of the contract. Both trainees were given the same opportunity to perform assigned tasks, in our fast
paced and progressive environment, without prior knowledge of our so)ware, and they both funconed well. During the period Mr. Dookie
displayed a keen aBtude, worked well with other team members and expressed good communicaon skills, and therefore, at the end of the period,
was offered a permanent posion, which he accepted. Welcome aboard Mr. Dookie!

Shanecia Kylee Graham is the fi)h and last child of MSD’s Technical Services Manager Ms. Vash Paul-Khan. In this year’s Secondary Entrance
Assessment (SEA) examinaon, Shanecia qualified for her first choice school: the presgious St. Joseph’s Convent, St. Joseph. She has been part of
the MSD family since birth and was the youngest parcipant (as a featured guest) in the first-ever “MSD’s Got Talent” compeon.
According to her mother, “Shanecia is a child who seems to know exactly what she wants, and knows how to get it. At age 3, I watched her select a
DVD movie of her choice, insert it in the player and climb up on the sofa, with remote in hand, to watch her movie. She didn’t need anyone to do it
for her. She would also memorize some of the dialogue to re-enact her favorite scenes. More recently, when I would fret that she was not studying
hard enough for SEA, she would say nonchalantly, ‘Mommy, don’t worry, I got this’ -- that made me pray even harder! I truly believe that she is
blessed.
Shanecia never ceases to amaze me with her effervescent personality and animated conversaons. She is compassionate and has a great sense of
humor. She says she wants to be a designer, so I thought fashion, but she says no everything from interior, exterior, logos etc. Maybe she is part of a
new breed, leaving me to believe that great things are in store for her.”

July-September 2015
On August 02, 2015, Mr. Shawn Mills, Senior Business Analyst, celebrated his 10-year anniversary at MSD. Mr. Mills
started on August 02, 2005 as a Technical Support Representave and stayed at this posion unl August 2009. He
was then promoted to Business Analyst in September 2009; then to his current post of Senior Business Analyst in
October 2013.
Mr. Mills is currently pursuing his MSc. in Financial Management with the Herio5 Wa5 University, but already holds a
BSc. in Compung & Informaon Systems (Hons) from the University of London; and is a Project Management
Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Instute.
When asked what about MSD made him stay on for 10 years, Mr. Mills responded “Great things in business are never
done by one person; they're done by a team of people. It is for this reason I have enjoyed my stay at MSD and hope to
spend many more.” Mr. Mills plans to own and manage a business in the future, to provide an individual with the

same opportunity MSD afforded him. His words of encouragement to all are: “If you find something you enjoy doing in life, you would never have
to work a day in your life.”
In November 2014, MSD broke the barriers to entry and penetrated a new market signing its first ever Micro
Finance (MFI) Client, Kris an Charles Investment Limited (KACI) as one of its newest customers. KACI, a family
owned business, is the largest MFI with ten (10) branches spanning the length and breadth of the beautiful island
of Jamaica. MSD embraced this new challenge with the primary purpose of fulfilling one of its key strategic
objectives “diversification of our customer base”. From all indicators, this challenge was successfully met, after
undergoing an intensive three weeks of user training and one week of on-line implementation. KACI successfully
went online with Emortelle in September 2015. We at MSD take this opportunity, with great pleasure and pride, in
welcoming KACI to the Emortelle family, and look forward to a very long and fruitful symbiotic relationship. KACI
has surely opened the door into the MFI market as MSD moves forward to continuously diversify its customer
base.

Krediet Kooperatie Ogem (KKO) In April 2015, again MSD continued to diversify, when its first Dutch speaking customer came on board. Krediet Kooperatie Ogem, located in Suriname, is an upcoming credit union that services members of the Suriname national utility company to which it is attached. There are various branches of this utility company where Emortelle will be accessed remotely across the country. MSD prides itself on the Pincode technology, which will be implemented within the system when KKO goes live in October 2015.
“Emortelle was made for the customer and not the customer for Emortelle.”

Get 10 Mins in here and there
You brush your teeth every day; exercise is equally
important for your daily roune. Turn off the TV or
computer, and get at least 30 minutes
of exercise every day. But don't feel like you have to
be an athlete. Walking is great exercise. Get 10
minutes here and there during the day. It all counts
It gives me great pleasure to write this column in awe of my colleagues who showed great
enthusiasm, care and generosity when they were called upon to sponsor school text
books for a child from St. Lucia. I received an email from my friend in St. Lucia who is a
single parent, and was unable to acquire text books for her daughter who goes to St.
Joseph’s convent in St. Lucia. Secondary school text books are quite expensive, so I
decided, instead of trying to acquire the books on my own, to solicit the assistance of my
good colleagues who immediately jumped in and decided to purchase the books. Each
colleague began by book number 1 stang, “I will purchase book no. 1.” Next stated “I will
purchase book no. 2” and so on unl there were no more books on the list.
The books were purchased and sent to St. Lucia by someone who was vising from there.
We have together made a li5le girls’ dream come through.
Edited thanks from the parent: “Please thank your wonderful co-workers who were so willing to assist; Truly, their investment will not go unnoticed. My prayer is that the God, who sees all
things, will reward them, and cause His favour to be resident in their lives. One day, I hope I get
the opportunity to behold their faces, and thank them for their availability and generosity.”
I take this opportunity here to again say many thanks to my colleagues for their kindness,
which they never hesitate to show. It is not the first me that something like this was
asked of the staff and again they have shown that they are a very caring bunch of people.
“It is in giving that we receive.” God bless you all.

Murphy’s Law on Compu"ng
1. When using a computer, whatever happens, be-
have as though you meant it to happen.
2. When you get to the point where you really un-
derstand your computer, it’s probably obsolete.
3. The first place to look for informaon is in the
secon of the manual where you least expect to
find it.
4. When the going gets tough… UPGRADE!
5. He, who laughs last, probably has a backup.
Microso) just released their new Office 2016 suite of desktop applicaons for both Office
365 and on-premises customers. Many observers are poinng out that Office 2016 is
firmly focused on the cloud and Microso) is concentrang its engineering investment in
features that leverage Office 365. Some of the new features work on-premises, but only if
you upgrade your environment with Exchange 2016, SharePoint 2016, etc.
One nice feature available to on-premises customers is Outlook 2016's capability to use
online searches when the client is connected to the network. To help with installaons,
Microso) has also released the Office 2016 Deployment Tool. Source: www.cunews.com

There is a saying: If you want something done right,
you’ve got to do it yourself. If you don’t ask anybody
for anything or open your heart to them, they can’t
hurt you. But this mindset will keep you from trusng
God. Life is simple and peaceful when we come to God
like li5le children and say, “God, I don’t want to live on
my own. I want to trust You. When I don’t know what
to do, I’ll trust You. When I don’t understand why, I’ll
trust You. I’ll do my part with Your help, and when I’m
done, I’ll trust You to do the rest.” Proverbs 3:5,6
says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not
on your own understanding; in all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your
paths (NKJV).
