After a delayed start we made an easy ½ hr trip to the rail line and werepleasantly surprised to see piles (and piles) of sleepers alongside the track.Nothing for it…park alongside and load up. This was made easy given theadditional trailers as they could hold full sleepers with ease, no chainsawrequired (phew).Therewerealsoplentyofbrokenbits forquickercoals thatcouldfitintheboxtrailer.Wefinishedthefirstloadandreturnedtocamptounloadandhave lunch.Chrishadtoheadoffearlier inthemorningtofindapharmacy. He ended up in Port Augusta and managed to time it just rightreturningaswehadfinishedunloading.

That evening we tested some of the collected wood to see how quickly itwouldburn.Given thewindwas stiff the fire looked likeablacksmiths forgewith the bellows activated. This typically means wood burns a great dealquicker. With a wet finger in the wind calculation I think the seven of uscollected enough wood for around 48 hrs of burning time. Hopefully theweatherwillbekindovertheweekendforustotestthetheory. With that we all returned home the following day. I would sincerely like tothankChris,Frank,Paul,Jenny,Ann,MalcomandevenRoger(thethoughtwasthere). As a famous British PM once said "Never was so much owed by somanytosofew".Iwould like toexpressa verybig thankyou toPhilip, whocame to thepartywiththetwoadditionaltrailersandgotusoutofapickle.IhopewewillseeyouallattheOctoberfesteventinafewweeks’time.Ifyouhavebeenlivingunderarock,checkoutourwebpageontheMLRwebsiteforfurtherinfo.
