The Cup Of Tea It is difficult work translating these Impressionist pieces into needlepoint InImpressionism artists would often use bright strokes of paint that were not premixedpositioning complementary colors next to each other and allowing the eye to do themixing What our painter did was translate the juxtaposed unmixed colors into widerswatches of color that represent a good middle ground between the two When stitching it might be fun to add some blended thread or interesting stitches tocreate the Impressionist effect These canvases represent a challenge that would befun for any stitcher to overcome make Mary Cassatt proud

Our painter spent quite a few hours and it took some going back and editing as wellas some reading on Impressionist color theory and in the end her hard work reallyshowed she knocked it out of the park Contact RussellRittenhouseNeedlepointcom for pricing and availability

Early Spring Finishing That darn groundhog promised us a well-deserved early spring this year and springfinishing is popping up like flowers Both of these pieces were stitched by ourEducator Hollie Axel and finished in-house (Ribbon-work Variegated threadsDecorative stitches This has our name written all over it)

Hollie supplied the fabrics for the pillow (Sidenote Yes You can supply your ownfabric for finishing projects Call the shop if you have questions about yardage)

Small canvases do not always mean small finishing All it takes is big ideas There is an art to picking fabric for finishing The key to a successful inset is to makethe fabric draw the eye right to the needlepoint instead of distracting from it The factthat Hollie was able to come up with a combination of pattern-on-pattern fabric (witha ruffle) that doesnt pull the eye away from those ribbon petals is mad science Her secret Her fabrics compliment the needlepoints background color which allowsthe ribbon flower in the center to really POP
