Check back every week for more staff profiles!
Jenny Aldridge is the Chair for the Fine Arts Department. She teaches Art II, III, IV, AP, Photography and Graphic Design. She has been at Union Academy for 9 years. Before UA, she was the art teacher at East Union Middle School for 10 years. She did work for a computer software company called Computing Solutions, Inc. after graduating from East Carolina University with a B.A. in Art History. She returned to Wingate University to get her education credentials.
If Jenny wasn’t in education, she would like to be in the photography field shooting on location for sporting events, family, friends, and fun! The person who had the largest impact on Jenny’s career was Diana Gagne. She believe in her and made her feel that the art department was important. She did all that she could to make sure the department was more than just an elective that students were required to take. She cared about the students who wanted to take her class and found suitable alternatives for those who did not. She was always encouraging and she gave her the confidence to be a better teacher.
Jenny has one son, Christian Aldridge (14), who is a freshman at UA. She is also engaged to Frank Bellini who has two children of his own, Frank (14) and Rose (11). Jenny will be married on June 23rd, 2013.

Sandee says if she weren’t working in education, she would love to be an event planner or buyer for a large retail store.
Sandee says Kathy Henderson has had the largest impact on her career. “She showed me that a strong woman can achieve goals despite adverse conditions.”
Sandee has been married to her husband, Larry, for 32 years. Larry is a Charlotte fireman, and they have two daughters. They love amusement parks and baseball.

How to Hug a Porcupine:
March 15 @ 2:05.
Union Academy Upper Campus
The Middle School Parent Book Club presents:
Get more information and RSVP by clicking here!
“You never listen to anything I say!”
Yesterday, your child was a sweet, well-adjusted eight-year-old.
Today, a moody, disrespectful twelve-year-old. What happened?
And more important, how do you handle it? How you respond to
these whirlwind changes will not only affect your child's behavior
now but will determine how he or she turns out later. Julie A.
Ross, executive director of Parenting Horizons, shows you exactly
what's going on with your child and provides all the tools you
need to correctly handle even the prickliest tween porcupine.
Find out how other parents survived nightmarish tween be-
havior--and still raised great kids
Break the “nagging cycle,” give your kids responsibilities, and
get results
Talk about sex, drugs, and alcohol so your kid will listen
Discover the secret that will help your child to disregard peer
pressure and make smart choices--for life
Join other middle school parents as we read and discuss books
related to parenting through the middle school years. You can join
the book club at anytime EVEN IF YOU HAVEN”T READ THE BOOK!

Scrip is a year-round fundraiser where you purchase gift cards. Union Academy purchases Scrip gift cards at
discount between 2-15%. Families buy the Scrip gift cards at face value—UA keeps the difference.
Retailers include: Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Lowe’s, Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden, Gap, Amazon, and 100’s more.
Last year, total sales of $87,000 generated $4,376 of profit. Only 10% of UA families participated! Just imagine, if
only 200 families spend $110/month and our school earns an average of 5% on those purchases, we could make
$15,000 in one year!
How to Order Scrip Gift Cards:
1. Fill out the Scrip order form (found on the Scrip page on the UA website)
2. Attach payment to form and send with your child or drop off at either campus.
3. If cards are available immediately, they will be given to you that day or the next. If cards need to be ordered,
they will be available by the end of the week.
