In this December newsletter, I would like to take a moment to thank our
Kenollie community. To our families, who support our school through both
volunteering and through enthusiastic participation in school events — your
support of Pizza Days, Kiss and Ride, School Council, Fall Fair, Dads’ BBQ and
classroom support are so appreciated. To our staff, including teachers, teaching
assistants, early childhood educators, custodians, office manager and lunch room
supervisors, who care deeply about our students and go that extra mile every day
to support their success. And lastly, I want to thank our students. You are
amazing young people and your potential is unlimited! It is a
privilege to be a part of your educational journey!
I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming
winter concert and caroling night. Have a
wonderful holiday and enjoy time together with your
loved ones.

DECEMBER 3 - 7 Here at Kenollie we are committed to putting into action the
concepts of sharing and helping those in need. Beginning on
Monday, December 3rd, the children of Kenollie will be
encouraged to help our local community by bringing in
nutritious, non-perishable food items, such as canned soup/
stew, canned fruits, vegetables, fish and meat for the Salvation
Army Food Drive. Items will be collected until Friday,
December 7th. Information about this fundraising campaign will also be
shared with the students at the Scorch Assembly on Friday,
November 30th.
Please note that you may also contribute to this
worthwhile cause during our Holiday Play on
Wednesday, December 5th by bringing in a non-perishable food item.
Thank you in advance for your generosity.

wonderful enhancements and special activities. At our School
Council meeting on November 26, 2018, School Council approved

Peel families are invited to our Kindergarten Sneak-a-Peek event on
Thursday, December 6, 2018 We inspire success, confidence and hope in each student…and it all starts in kindergarten! If your child was born in 2015, they can start kindergarten in September 2019. The months leading up to the first day of kindergarten can be an exciting time for families—however, we also know that beginning kindergarten can sometimes be an anxious time for some families. That’s why Kenollie P.S. is inviting next year’s kindergarten students and their families to visit the school on Thursday, December 6, 2018 between 9:30-11:00 a.m. or 1:00-2:00 p.m. so they can learn more about the program. The day will feature guided tours of some of our kindergarten classrooms, so families can see the kindergarten program in action. An educator will lead a tour, and all guests will be asked to sign in at the office, as per our usual process when we have visitors. Our staff will work to ensure there is minimal disruption in the classroom and regular kindergarten routines continue.
Please call Kenollie P.S. at 905-278-8991 to set up an appointment to register your child

If your child will be starting grade 1 in September 2019, one of the important choices you will make is whether you want to consider French Immersion (FI).
The application form for grade 1 FI for the 2019-20 school year will be available online at www.peelschools.org/French as of Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 25, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Applications received after the deadline will not be included in the random selection process and will be placed on the school’s waitlist.
The FI school for our area is Mineola P.S. The phone number is 905-278-3144.
Enrolment cap and random selection process The Peel Board has a limited number of spaces available for students interested in Grade 1 French Immersion. At this time, the Grade 1 FI enrolment cap is set at 25 per cent of all Peel students enrolling in Grade 1. A random selection process is used to determine which students will be offered spaces in the Grade 1 FI program.
It is important to note that applicants are not offered space in Grade 1 FI on a first come, first serve basis. A computerized random selection process will randomly assign a rank to each application that is received by the deadline.
Once students have been assigned to all available spaces, remaining students will be placed, again in rank order, on the school’s waitlist. Each school has its own waitlist.
