D ear Parents and Guardians: The mission of the Hollidaysburg Area School District is to develop knowledgeable lifelong learners who are challenged to meet their individual potential. In order for us to accomplish this mission, we must build strong lines of communication between school and home. We do this through a number of ways including our on-line LetterGrade system, interim reports, regular report cards, and parent- teacher conferences. Another way in which we keep you informed is through district and school report cards. Enclosed you will find the District and School Report Cards as required by the new federal legislation known as No Child Left Be- hind. All school districts must disseminate information to parents about the progress being made in the district and in all of the schools. In these reports you will find aggregate data on student achievement at each proficiency level on the PSSA as well as disag- gregate data from the various required subgroups. 2005 District Amud Yearly Progmss (AYP) Report This report card reflects the score of each student who took the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in the Hollidaysburg Area School District, including students with disabilities and those with limited Enghsh proficiency.

Required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act, the report card is a tool for ensuring that the public is fully informed about the district's progress.

The report contains the following data:

Statewide reading and math performance level averages on the PSSA at the 31-4 5th 8th and 1 lth grade levels overall and by gender, racelethnicity, hsability status (IEP), migrant status, English proficiency and economic status.

Graduation rate and attendance rate for the most recent year available.

Information about awards, extracurricular activities and special services offered at each building in the district

This year, the state annual objectives are 45% proficient or above for math and 54% proficient or above for reading.

The school attendance target is 90% or any improvement from previous year

The graduation requirement is 80% or any improvement from previous year.

At least 95% of students overall and within each subgroup must take the test.
