Inour lives, we

never saw Momin a swim suit.

Here she was posingfor our Dad at Lake

Okachee.

We never thought to askMom how many men shedated before she met Dad.We do know that they metwhile working at theBoston Store in Milwau-kee, WI around 1946.

Even back them, bothMom and Dad smoked.Mom finally gave ciga-rettes up for good afterher illness in 2003.

Mom gradu-ated from HolyAngels All GirlsCatholic High School inMilwaukee, WI on June 7, 1945.

These photos were takenfrom Mom’s Senior YearBook. Mom was a jock. What’s not shown is thefact she was a Math wizand was able to help uswith homework.

We don’t understand themake-up session. As faras we know the only timeMom voluntarily woremake-up was when shegot married.

Mom and Dad started life in Los Angeles with lit-tle money, no job and no place to live. Dad startedworking at Bullock’s. They rented a one bedroomduplex from Marie Mercurio, whom Dad met atwork. Mom stayed home and had three kids be-fore they boughttheir first home inWest Covina. Sevenyears later, now withfour children, theybought their secondhome in West Covina.Their fifth child wasborn ten years later. We were so luckythat Mom stayedhome for us.

Mom hated the snow since itwas her job to shovel the side- walks at home in Milwaukee.Ironically, it snowed in Los Angeles during their first year.

Mom & Dad were married in

Milwaukee, WI.They came to

sunny Californiafor their honey-

moon with every intention of staying. They were marriedfor almost 50years.

Mom was a beautiful bride. Theirs was the 3rd family wedding in 1948(first Mary & Bill then Elaine & Erv). Mom wore Mary’s wedding dress.

Mom loved to go out to eat. One of her favorite restaurants was the Northwoods Inn.

She would often invite the family, especially if Howie was in town, and pick up the tab.

Family was important to Mom and she gathered everyone for birth-days, Easter, Christmas and anniversaries. Hereare some special memories.

Mom made these flannel pjs

In 1986, with her brand new van, Mom, Dad and Jennifer drove across thecountry to Milwaukee, Washington DC and Kentucky. Dad flew home oncethey reached DC and Mom drove back with Jennifer, who was only 14 and

unable to help with thedriving.

Mom was a gutsy lady. She wasn’t afraid to fly across the country to visitfamily and friends. On one of her first real vacations she flew back to Milwaukee with Dad, Trudy and Jennifer in 1973. Over the years, she made numeroussolo trips to wherever Howie was living.

Mom took her last road tripthis past September. Shewent to Alabama & Milwaukeewith Jenn, Judy & Trudy wherethey joined Howie.

Mom hated having her photo taken but wesometimes managed to get off a fewshots before she would hide her face.

Mom loved her Dichrondra lawn. It looked good but maintenance was in-credible. We couldn’t play on it and Mom would spend hours, days, months, and years picking out the weeds. It was a never ending choreuntil Raul replaced it with a hardy lawn.
