To the world, she is the widow in yellow who toppled a
dictatorship in a stirring show of People Power in 1986. To
her native Philippines, she is the courageous president who
saw off a series of coups d’etat and single-mindedly restored
the institutions of democracy. But to herself, Corazon C.
Aquino is a plain housewife who, in all conscience, could not
refuse her country’s call to service when her husband, former
senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., was assassinated in 1983.
She continues to serve after her term of office ended in 1992
through her work with nongovernmental organizations.
“What is important is that we believe in the Almighty and
that we try to do whatever we can to help ease some of the
sufferings of our people,” she says. “I always tell my children:
‘I don’t know how many good years I still have left, but
whatever I can do at this time, I really want to be able to
continue not only for the cause of democracy, but also to help
in bringing about a better Filipino.’ For the rest of my life, I
will be doing whatever I can to improve things.”

While the celebrant and the concelebrants  proceed to the altar, the Entrance Hymn is  sung. When he reaches the altar, he makes the customary reverence with the ministers and  kisses it.

Celebrant: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. R: Amen.

INTRODUCTION TO THE
CELEBRATION AND PENITENTIAL
RITE
Celebrant introduces the celebration and  leads the people to the penitential rite: Brothers and sisters, we have come together to renew our trust in Christ who, by dying on the cross, has freed us from eternal death and, by rising, has opened for us the gates of  heaven. In this hour of grief and sorrow which is also an hour of hope and gratitude, let us entrust to our Father in Heaven the soul of our dear Corazon. Let us ask the good Lord to grant us the gift of His loving consolation.
SPRINKLING OF THE WATER
The celebrant then sprinkles the coffin with holy water, saying: In the waters of baptism Corazon died with Christ and rose with him to new life. May she now share His eternal glory.

PLACING OF THE PALL
The pall is then placed on the coffin while celebrant says: In baptism Corazon was clothed with white garments as an outward sign of  her Christian dignity. Now she brings that dignity unstained into everlasting life in heaven.
PLACING OF CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS
While the Book of the Gospels is placed on the coffin, the celebrant says: In life Corazon cherished the Gospel of Christ. May Christ now greet her with these words of eternal life: Come, blessed of my Father!
While a cross is placed on the coffin, the celebrant says: In baptism Corazon received the sign of the cross. May he now share in Christ’s victory over sin and death.
He then goes to the chair.

Celebrant: Let us pray.
 All pray silently for a while. Lord, may our prayers come before you and lead Corazon your servant to eternal joy. You created her in your image and made her your daughter. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. Who can ever come between us and the love of Christ? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him? Who will bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who acquits us. Who will condemn? It is Christ Jesus who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST
PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR
AND THE GIFTS
During the preparation of the gifts, the Offertory song is sung and the altar table is
 prepared.
The celebrant takes the paten with the bread  and, holding it slightly raised above the altar 
 says: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have this bread to offer, which earth has given and human hands have made. It will become for us the bread of life. People: Blessed be God forever.
The deacon pours wine and a little water into the chalice saying inaudibly: By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
Then celebrant takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar says: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through you goodness We have this wine to offer, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink. People: Blessed be God forever.

Celebrant bows and says inaudibly: Lord God, we ask you to receive us and be pleased with the sacrifice we offer you with humble and contrite hearts.
He may now incense the offerings and the altar. Afterwards the deacon or a minister  incenses the celebrant and people. Next the celebrant stands at the side of the altar and washes his hands saying inaudibly: Lord, wash away my iniquity; cleanse me from my sin.
Standing at the center of the altar, facing the  people, he extends and then joins his hands,  saying: Celebrant: Pray, brethren, that our sacrifice may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father. People: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your  hands for the praise and glory of his name,
 for our good and the good of all his Church.
PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS
With hands extended, the celebrant says the  prayer over the gifts.
Lord, in your love accept the gifts we offer in faith for Corazon your daughter. May the sacrifice you have chosen to be the one source of  healing for mankind bring her eternal salvation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R: Amen.
PREFACE
Celebrant begins the Preface. With hands extended he says: V: The Lord be with you. R: And also with you.
 
V: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. R: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
The celebrant continues the preface with hands extended. Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. In him, who rose from the dead, our hope of resurrection dawned. The sadness of death gives way to the bright promise of immortality. Lord, for your faithful people life is changed, not ended. When the body of our earthly dwelling lies in death we gain an everlasting dwelling place in heaven. And so, with all the choirs of angels in heaven we proclaim your glory and join in their unending hymn of praise:

He joins his hands and holding them outstretched over the offerings, together with the Concelebrants say: Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He shows the consecrated host to the people,  places i t on the paten, and genuflects in adoration. Then he continues: When supper was ended, he took the cup.
He takes the chalice and, raising it a little above the altar, continues: Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:
He bows slightly. TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT: THIS IS THE CUP OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND EVERLASTING COVENANT. IT WILL BE SHED FOR YOU AND FOR ALL SO THAT SINS MAY BE FORGIVEN. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
He shows the chalice to the people, places it  on the corporal, and genuflects in adoration. Then he sings or says: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
 
Then, with hands extended, the priest says: In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of  Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.
One of the Concelebrants: Lord, remember your Church throughout the world; make us grow in love, together with Benedict our Pope, Gaudencio our Bishop, and all the clergy.
One of the Concelebrants: Remember Corazon, whom you have called from this life. In Baptism she died with Christ: May she also share his resurrection.
One of the Concelebrants: Remember our brothers and sisters, who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of  your presence. Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life with Mary, the virgin Mother of  God, with the apostles, and with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages. May we praise you in union with them, and give you glory
He joins his hands. through your Son, Jesus Christ.
He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and, lifting them up, sings or says: THROUGH HIM, WITH HIM, IN HIM, IN THE UNITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, ALL GLORY AND HONOR IS YOURS, ALMIGHTY FATHER, FOREVER AND EVER.

Celebrant: The Father has placed us in the care of Jesus. With our Good Shepherd we sing the prayer of  filial trust:
The assembly led by the choir sings the Ama Namin. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sinned against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Celebrant with hands extended, continues alone: Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The assembly sings: For the Kingdom, the power and the glory  are yours, now and forever. Amen.
SIGN OF PEACE
Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles: I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace and unity of your kingdom where you live forever and ever. R. Amen.
 
Deacon: Let us offer each other the sign of  peace.
 All present make an appropriate sign of   peace.
BREAKING OF THE BREAD
AGNUS DEI The assembly led by the choir sings the
 Agnus Dei:
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world: grant us peace.
Meanwhile, the celebrant takes the host and  breaks it over the paten. He places a small 
 piece in the chalice, saying inaudibly: May this mingling of the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life to us who receive it.
PRIVATE PREPARATION
Celebrant says inaudibly: Lord Jesus Christ, with faith in your love and mercy I eat your Body and drink your Blood. Let it not bring me condemnation, but health in mind and body.
COMMUNION
He genuflects. Taking the host, he raises it   slightly over the paten and, facing the people,  says aloud:
This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to his supper. R. Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.

He says inaudibly: May the body of Christ bring me to everlasting life.
He reverently consumes the body of Christ. Then he takes the chalice and says inaudibly: May the blood of Christ bring me to everlasting life.
He reverently drinks the blood of Christ. After  this he takes the paten or other vessel and 
 goes to the communicants. He takes a host   for each one, raises it a little, and shows it,  saying:
The Body of Christ. R. Amen.
While the faithful receive Holy Communion, Eucharistic Hymns are sung.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Then, standing at the chair or at the altar, the  priest sings or says: Let us pray. Lord, as you renew us by this sacred food, free Corazon our sister from the power of death and give her a share in the joyful resurrection of Christ, who is Lord forever and ever. R. Amen.
[MESSAGES]
Celebrant goes to a place near the coffin. The assisting ministers carry the censer and holy  water. The coffin may now be sprinkled with holy water and incensed.
INVITATION TO PRAYER
Using the invitation, Celebrant faces the  people and begins the final  commendation
 
comfort in the hope that one day we shall see Corazon again and enjoy her friendship. Although this congregation will disperse in sorrow, the mercy of God will gather us together again in the joy of his kingdom. Therefore let us console one another in the faith of  Jesus Christ.
 All pray in silence.
The song of farewell is then said or sung.
Saints of God, come to her aid! Hasten to meet her, angels of the Lord! R: Receive her soul and present her to God  the Most High.
May Christ, who called you, take you to himself; may angels lead you to the bosom of Abraham. R: Receive her soul and present her to God the Most High.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. R: Receive her soul and present her to God  the Most High.
PRAYER OF COMMENDATION
Celebrant then says the prayer: Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our sister Corazon in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in

Christ, she will rise with him on the last day. We give you thanks for the blessings which you bestowed upon Corazon in this life: they are signs to us of your goodness and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ. Merciful Lord, turn toward us and listen to our prayers: open the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our sister forever. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R. Amen.
The following antiphon may be said or sung. May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs come to welcome you and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.

 John 6:39  This is the will of the one who sent me, says the Lord, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day.
PRAYER OVER THE PLACE OF
COMMITAL
Celebrant: God of endless ages, through disobedience to your law we fell from grace and death entered the world; but through the obedience and resurrection of your Son you revealed to us a new life. You granted Abraham, our father in faith, a burial place in the Promised Land; you prompted Joseph of  Arimathea to offer his own tomb for the burial of the Lord. In a spirit of repentance, we earnestly ask you to look upon this grave and bless it, so that, while we commit to the earth the body of your servant Corazon, her soul may be taken into paradise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R. Amen

The celebrant sprinkles holy water on the place of committal.
COMMITTAL
Celebrant: Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend Corazon. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock. Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of  everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light.
The committal takes place at this time. The celebrant then says the following: Eternal rest grant unto Corazon, Lord. R. And let perpetual light shine upon her.
V. May she rest in peace. R. Amen.
V. May the soul of Corazon and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. R. Amen.
