What sets the Wall range apart is that the models are in-tended to be fixed against a wall, in the widest sense of the word. The stainless steel LED 270-WALL (pictured here) not only looks good, it is also multi-functional. The light unit can be swivelled in any direction, through 270º.

All Spot fixtures have a silver-brushed or black-coated aluminium housing, with a Halogen light source. The black spotlights appear to retreat into the background during the day, more so than the silver ones. A ground pin is supplied for positioning on a soft surface; for a hard surface, the spotlight can be fitted on a base plate.

Cool WhiteThe FLH-LED011 (CW) gives a ‘Cool White’ light and because the LEDs are cast, an attractive, spread light is created. The fixture is easy to integrate into natural stone and wood, for example. Using various rings, the fixture can either be built-in (stainless steel ring ø60 mm) or surface mounted (stainless steel ring ø80 mm). The fixture with build-in ring is easy to mount in wood using the Fixation Set, which is available separately (p. 38). The Fish Eye 150x150 is fitted with the powerful LED Engine lamp. This has a greater power than lamps with conventional LEDs and is therefore suitable for illuminating large bushes, trees, umbrella-shaped plane trees and statues. This fixture, which is finished with a stainless steel cover, can also be used for marking a pathway, patio, pond edging, drive, etc. The principle of the 360 degrees rotating Fish Eye lens is used in the Solitary, Wall and Integrated models. The Fish Eye Wall, a stainless steel fixture with LED Engine, can be used in many ways, upright on decking or jetties or hanging from a wall or ceiling. The lens that can be rotated 360 degrees, increases the reach considerably. Because of the 5 Watt transformer, which is available separately (see p. 37), this fixture can also be connected to 120 Volt.

Diamonds are forever!The LED-TOP illustrated is available separately. The standard Halogen Top of the AML(S)-11A series can be replaced with this LED TOP in the twinkling of any eye. An austere housing of aluminium forms the basis for both of these fixtures. The high-quality plastic lens top with Halogen lighting can be unscrewed and replaced by the LED TOP with ‘Warm White’ LED light. Every fixture in the AML(S) series can be upgraded in this way. The height of the fixture is 325 mm. The AML(S)-11A Wall is available in silver or dark charcoal. Besides the 12 Volt model, the fixture is also available in a 120 Volt mains version.

Once the primary functions of the lighting are known, you can determine the type of fixture you want. You then calculate the minimum required power of the transformer and decide how you are going to lay the cables (p. 30 and 31) on the basis of the fixtures chosen.

Sample lighting plan (see garden design):Firstly the functional needs of the garden are examined. DB-LED (WW) from the Integrated series is used near the transition from the indoor space to the outdoor space. At the passageway to the patio a playful effect is created by integrating the DB-LEDs in a random arrangement. The LED-270 Wall on the shed enables you to find the door in the dark.

In order to highlight the patio during the evening as well as in the daytime, the umbrella-shaped plane trees have been illuminated with the Spot BHF-1. Between the patio and the house there are two LED 270-1s (from the Solitary series) to light the way along the garden path.

The atmosphere in the garden has been taken into consideration too. The seats between the foliage (to the left of the drawing) are given an extra atmos-pheric touch by integrating the DB-LED (WW) in the pergola.

A ring main has been used to connect the BHF-1 (p. 31). The other fixtures are connected to a linear mains connection (p. 31). Both cables are connect-ed to a single 250 Watt transformer.

Garden lighting entails more than just putting a few lights in the garden. It determines how we live in the dark and how the garden can be seen as an extension of the interior. A lighting plan helps you create the right light at the right place. A good plan makes it easier for you to choose the type of fixture you want and enables you to calculate the tech-nical equipment you need to achieve the best result simply and quickly.

Outdoor lighting has various applications, just as the lighting in your house does.

Functional lighting This lights up the walking routes and doors, for example, so that they are easily accessible. When designing you functional lighting, ensure that there is a well-lit total view of your garden from indoors. This creates a feeling of security. And do you, for example, need light to be able to barbecue or read on your patio?

Lighting to accentuateWhat objects deserve extra attention? A statue, tree, bush or water feature, perhaps?

Atmospheric lightingWhat does the garden still need in terms of subtle lighting to produce an atmospheric whole?

When you draw up a lighting plan, start with a sketch of your garden. Use the sketches made when you designed your garden or, alternatively, down-load the drawing grid on our website. Indicate on it where you want to have light points and the use for which they are intended.

TECHnoLogyAn LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a diode, i.e. an electronic component that emits light when a current is passed through it. in-lite uses two sorts of LEDs for the lamps in its fixtures: the conventional LED and the more powerful LED Engine.

USAgEFixtures equipped with conventional LED lighting have a very characteristic beam. Because the LEDs are cast in a special sort of resin they produce a diffuse, somewhat sparkling light. The technology of the LED Engine is used in a number of fixtures (see the product overview). This powerful lamp has a greater power than conven-tional LEDs and gives a more evenly distributed light. Therefore the fixtures with this lamp are extremely suitable for illuminating objects and special places in the garden.

SErviCE LiFEin-lite’s conventional LED lamps have a long life (about 100,000 hours) and an extremely low power consumption. Compared to traditional lamps such as Halogen, the powerful LED Engine is very efficient (uses little power) and has a much longer service life. The service life guaranteed by in-lite for fixtures with the LED Engine is 25,000 hours. It goes without saying that during the construction phase of the fixtures using this powerful LED lamp the optimum relation-ship between light output and service life was taken into account.

TECHnoLogyA Halogen lamp is a light bulb filled with a Halogen mixture. This lamp has a higher efficiency (light output per unit of energy supplied) and a longer service life than an ordinary light bulb.

USAgEHalogen lighting gives a bright beam that is espe-cially appropriate for lighting up objects and special places. This type of lighting is used in fixtures at places where a lot of light is needed.

SErviCE LiFEThe Halogen lamps used by in-lite have an average service life of 2,500 hours. What is more, the service life of the 50 Watt lamp of the AUL-1A is 5,000 hours. Always use a soft cloth when inserting or replacing a lamp. Grease and salts from the skin can con-siderably shorten the service life.

TECHnoLogyA light bulb is a lamp made of glass in which light is produced by heating an incandescent filament.

USAgEThis type of lamp is often used at spots where atmosphere is required. A light bulb is a reliable lamp for various fixtures at all levels.

SErviCE LiFEThe service life of the lamps used by in-lite is about 2,000 hours.

THE SySTEm

Plug & Play!With your lighting plan ready, you can start with the installation of your outdoor lighting. You do not need any technical know-how to install in-lite garden lighting. The principle is simple and the system is quick to realise and easy to alter. With the special Easy-Lock system, you literally connect the fixtures to the low-tension cable with a twist of the hand. They are then controlled from a single place and can, if required, be regulated so that they switch on and off automatically. Fixtures with different lamps can, furthermore, be connected in any order on the same cable.

12 Volt low tensionRoll the low-tension cable (12 Volt) out from the transformer which is connected to the 120 Volt mains. This cable can stop anywhere you like and does not have to form a closed system. You can conceal the cables directly under the paving or simply cover them with earth in the borders. The low-tension cables are absolutely safe, even if they become damaged. They do not, therefore, have to be buried at least 60 cm / 2 feet under the ground level like 120 Volt cables. This is a reassuring thought, particularly if there are children playing or pets digging in the vicinity.

Quick to installOn average, it only takes twenty minutes to install a basic system with one or more fixtures*. If you have a lighting plan, it is simply a question of rolling out the cables and connecting the fixtures at the places you have chosen. Modules can be added to your system simply by splitting and connecting the cables. This is handy if you do not yet know exactly what you want, but would like to make a start with your outdoor lighting. If, however, you prefer to have your in-lite lighting installed by a specialist after all, this is possible too. For more information contact one of our dealers in your area.

moTion DETECTorThe motion detector, which is available separately, can be added on to every system, with the exception of sets. The addition of this detector means that the lighting automatically switches on as soon as anyone approaches it. The motion detector can also be combined with the timer. As soon as the lighting switches off after the preset number of hours, the motion detector switches on. The lighting will then only switch on if the detector ascertains moving objects.

TrAnSFormErThe type of transformer you need depends on the cap-acity you require (see the calculation example). 56, 108 and 250 Watt transformers are available. All have the following standard operating functions: manual on/off switch, light/dark sensor, timer and motion detector. The light/dark sensor means that the lighting automatically switches on at sunset and off again at sunrise. If you do not want the lights to be on all night, this is easy to regulate with the timer. They go off automatically at the set time.
