“Bronx” Mission for our 60th Well done to the Franciscans of the Renewal for leading us. Fr Sullivan says: “I am the biggest sinner of this parish and I received so many graces…”. We do not forget to thank those who made the “Bed & Board” at the Chapel House of the Fr Bernard & Brother Angelo so comfortable. Overall the Mission has been a real highlight of our Anniversary Year. For the Diamond Jubilee of the Church Building the “pointing” of the physical bricks was renewed so it is fitting that the spiritual bricks… i.e. ALL OF US, are renewed. Tea & Toast raised £220 for the Friars work with the homeless. Secondly, the Collection on Thursday with direct Parish funding meant that £1,200 (12 Apostles x 100) was sent to the Friars. Finally proceeds from the next Coffee Morning (Sunday 2nd Dec) will fund their work with the materially poor.

Well done to Omega Blacksmiths for the final work on the 12 Apostle/ Pillars… and for their fine work over the years. The beautiful Crosses mark the 12 consecrated pillars.

Church Workers’ Social Parish Pastoral Council is hosting a social event for those parishioners who are volunteers in our parish. If you volunteer in any capacity within the parish then you are welcome to join us on the evening. Buffet provided; last orders 11.30pm. The event will take place on Friday, 30th November. If you are interested in attending please sign the sheet in the porch area. Places are limited so it will be first come, first served. Spouses are also welcome. Over 18s only.

Remembrance Sunday well done Croy Silver Band (led by Mr K Blackwood) for their recent kind musical accompaniment, especially the Service at the Memorial to the Fallen.

Prisoners’ Week begins today. We pray for prisoners & their families… nor do we forget the victims of crime & their families and those who work in the Criminal Justice System. On behalf of t h e P r i s o n e r s a t Barlinnie, Fr Lyons thanked us. The RC Chaplains are also seeking volunteer musicians & singers for Mass on Monday evenings. If willing & able Tel: 0141 429 5651

Enrolment for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation/ Confession and First Holy Communion will take place at all Masses this weekend. Happily for the Corpus Christi Procession 2019, Rt Rev Brian McGee, Bishop of Argyll & the Isles will lead the Procession. There are Gaelic connections around this area and Bishop Brian always said he wished to learn God’s tongue: “Bi e math ar faicinn.”

Finance Last weekend’s Second Collection for Re-pointing raised= £477. This week’s (& next) Second Collection will be for Re-pointing. New Gift Aid Envelopes will be available for uplift THIS weekend. You also have the opportunity to join the Gift Aid Scheme. Well done the Anonymous Donors of £20 and £20 for the Re-Pointing and £20 for Flowers for the Altar.

The Re-pointing is nearly complete. As of 16th November, Income= £23,899 and Expenditure= £43,257. Expenditure includes Health & Safety reports, Asbestos survey (with “pass”), Scaffolding & pertinent Safety Certificates, new Guttering & new Lintels for Bell Tower, Specialist Brickwork, materials, Repair Report of Structural Engineer, “Specialist” drilling Repair, cherry-pickers, new lightning for the Bell tower, Specialist Paint and Labour Costs. A special mention must go to AL & JR for their real “labour of love.” Hence we still need to continue the Second Collection for a while yet and continue to ask parishioners to organise Fund-raising events. Every penny will go to this important matter (none of it will be levied by the Archdiocese). Well done to those who are willing & able to keep Holy Cross standing! We also pray for our Benefactors.

St Vincent de Paul Society will be meeting for Mass for the Deceased Members of the Society on Wednesday 21st Nov at 7pm. All welcome, especially those who have benefitted from their apostolic zeal.

Christmas Presents to children less fortunate than our own may be handed at the Porch Area next weekend. If wrapped, please mark “Child aged 7- 9” or “Boy aged 11” etc.

World Day of the Poor as initiated by Pope Francis- this Sunday, 18th Nov. To view His Holiness’ letter visit www.justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk

Men’s Acoustic Night will be held THIS Friday. Proceeds to Holy Cross Primary School Christmas Panto. (Last month’s Acoustic Night raised £400 for CHAS).

Quote of the Week “I sent a photo to a friend of me standing in the grounds of Holy Cross, Croy. My friend thought I was visiting a fancy Golf Course” by Fr Javier, Comboni Missionary. Well done to those who keep the grounds so beautiful!
