In Eastertide, after
the 5.00pm and 8.30am Masses, and instead of the Hail Mary during the bidding prayers at the 10.30am Mass, we sing the traditional Eastertide anthem to Our Lady.
Regina coeli, laetare, alleluia! Quia quem meruisti portare,
alleluia! Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia! Ora pro nobis deum, alleluia! [Joy to you, O Queen of Heaven, alleluia He whom you were fit to bear, alleluia Has arisen as he said, alleluia. Pour to God for us your prayer, alleluia.] V. Rejoice and be glad O Virgin Mary, alleluia
R. For the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia.
MAY IS MARY’S MONTH!

Sunday’s Readings
T he coming of the Holy Spir-
it made all the difference.
People are filled with wonder at
the power of the Apostles’ witness, and
(undoing Babel) in so many languages too!
Everything will be accomplished through
the power of the Spirit. He enables the
Apostles to get out and on with building
the Church, and He sustains the Church
through all her trials. (Countless times,
secular rulers have attempted to extermi-
nate Christianity). And He sustains us. We
receive the Spirit in baptism, and then at
Confirmation He comes to confirm our
faith and give us the fullness of His gifts.
The Spirit is also given in keeping with
Christ’s promise to send the Advocate and
Helper, and to win forgiveness of our sins.
As the words of absolution put it “God,
through the death and resurrection of His
Son has given us the Holy Spirit for the
forgiveness of sins”. The Church and all
her members need all the Spirit’s gifts. His
presence transformed the Apostles and He
can transform us too.
New Sunday Mass Times: St Joseph’s 8.30, St Anne’s 10.30
W hen the sun's rays fall on bright and transparent ob-
jects, they themselves become radiant and from themselves shed a further shining beam: so the souls inhabited by the Spirit, and illuminated by the Spirit, themselves are rendered wholly spiritual and send out their grace to others. St Basil of Caesarea 330-379
Come, Holy Spirit!
Bernard Martin RIP It is with great sadness that we note Ber-
nard's death which happened last Mon-day night after a year of health problems
bravely borne. Bernard was a man of faith whose tireless service at St Joseph’s was willingly given over many years. His
faith was nurtured by the Passionists of Mt Argus in Dublin and they always
meant a great deal to him. Much of his life was spent in generously helping oth-
ers—whether young people, the sick or the Church. He died the day after re-
ceiving Holy Communion and the sacra-ment of anointing, just weeks short of
his 84th birthday. His body will be taken into St Joseph’s
on 12th June and the Funeral Mass will be the next morning, at a time to be
confirmed. Eternal Rest Grant unto Him, O Lord
