The Lions Club of
Castries assisted by
the Leos held its an-
nual Christmas party
in the Community of
Babonneau. This year
participants were
drawn from five infant and primary schools in the
community - Babonneau, Fond Assaux, Debarras,
Bogis and Laguerre. The students were treated
to face painting, eats and drinks, and engaged in
song and dance. This year a new feature was
added and each school presented a cultural piece
depicting the Christmas theme. A unique piece
was performed in Creole. The highlight of the
party was the appearance of Santa who engaged
the students in song and dance. Each Child was
presented with a gift by Santa. Our thanks go to
the many corporate sponsors, individuals, Lions
and Leos who contributed and participated in
making this event the success that it was. We
take this opportunity to wish all a spirit filled
Christmas and a prosperous 2013. ROAR Lions

We have come to the end of the
first half of the lionistic year and we
can safely say that we have grown.
But lions have we truly grown? Have
we achieved the goals that we set
ourselves and our club for that pe-
riod. Have we made a difference in
our club life. Have contributed in the
way that we should have? If the
answer to these questions is yes,
then Lions ROAR and let us move
forward with strength into the sec-
ond half of the year. If there is an
alternate answer then Lions we need
to reflect on the goals that we set
and review them.. We need to re-
flect on our participation in Club
activities and see what difference we
can make in the coming year.. let us
focus on these questions and ensure
that we continue to REACH

INTERNATIONAL LEO DAY– December 5, 2012
Health Corner : P A G E 3 V O L U M E 5 I S S U E 2
1. Quit the sugar habit. The average
can of sugar-sweetened soda or fruit punch provides about 150 calories. If you were to drink just one can of a
sugar-sweetened soft drink every day, and not cut back on calories elsewhere, you could gain up to 15 pounds in a
year. Cutting back on sugary drinks may help control your weight and may lower your risk of type 2 diabetes.
2. Go calorie-free naturally. “Diet” drinks with artificial sweeteners may condition our taste buds to crave super-
sweet foods. Plain old water is the best calorie-free beverage—but if it’s just too plain, try adding a squeeze of
lemon or lime or a splash of 100% fruit juice. Plain coffee and tea are also healthy calorie-free choices, in modera-
tion.
3. If you don’t drink alcohol, there’s no need to start. Moderate alcohol consumption lowers the risk of heart disease
and diabetes; it also slightly increases the risk of breast and colon cancer. For some people—especially pregnant
women, people recovering from alcohol addiction, people with liver disease, and people taking one or more medica-
tions that interact with alcohol—the risks of drinking clearly outweigh the benefits.
4. Save sports drinks for athletes. Sports beverages are designed to give athletes carbs, electrolytes, and fluid during
high-intensity workouts that last an hour or more. For sedentary folks, they’re just another source of sugary calories.
5. Pull the plug on energy drinks. These pricey concoctions have as much sugar as soft drinks, enough caffeine to raise
your blood pressure, and an unpronounceable list of herbs and additives whose long-term health effects are unknown.
No one needs them.
There are many options for what to drink, but without a doubt, water is the best choice: It's calorie-free, and it's as
easy to find as the nearest tap.

agement and staff of

Secretary will be circulating
a form that we developed to assist in that regard.
The second half will begin with a bang; first we will
convene our Zone Advisory meeting followed by

every effort to support the Region Chairman – Lion
Rhon Stephens at his Region Meeting in Barbados.
This will be following by the District Governor visit
to audit the clubs.

hold the banner of Lionism high in Zone 3B as we
recommit ourselves to “STILL BELIEVE IN A
WORLD OF SERVICE”.

A woman is in bed with her lover who also happens to be her husband's best friend. They had sex for
hours, and afterwards, while they're just laying there, the phone rings. Since it is the woman's house, she
picks up the receiver. Her lover looks over at her and listens, only hearing her side of the conversation...
She is speaking in a cheery voice) "Hello? Oh, hi. I'm so glad that you called. Really? That's wonderful. I
am so happy for you. That sounds terrific. Great! Thanks. Okay. Bye." She hangs up the telephone and her
lover asks, "Who was that?" "Oh" she replies, "that was my husband telling me all about the wonderful
time he's having on his fishing trip with you." source: http://www.jokes4us.com/peoplejokes/hookerjokes/
