A MESSAGE FROM CEO ANNE STARR

2020 proves that Orchard Place delivers on our mission of developing strong futures even in the most unexpected circumstances. As a supporter

of Orchard Place, you recognize that children’s mental healthcare is essential.

When COVID-19 concerns closed down schools and businesses, our multidisciplinary teams on campus continued to deliver around-the-clock care to Iowa’s most at-risk youth.

Across branches, more than 100 of our therapists, providers and other professionals began delivering treatment and services via telehealth to ensure continuity of care.

Research shows one in five children in Iowa will experience a mental health crisis. When a child is in crisis, we know the family is in crisis too. On behalf of the 7,535 children and families we provided essential care to this year, thank you!

You are essential to our mission.

In gratitude, Anne

“Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” -Maya Angelou, American Poet

I have a 360-degree view of Orchard Place. My first experience was as a parent of a child in need of support. I later joined the Orchard Place team as a Family Peer Support Specialist.

Orchard Place came into my life during a very dark and stressful time. The team members who helped my son and our family were my point of sanity in my otherwise chaotic world.

My son is a wonderful and beautiful soul whose early life included a lot of trauma and whose genetics manifested in debilitating ways.

Throughout all the chaos, our Orchard Place team members served as my guiding lights, my sounding board when I was out of ideas, motivators when I was flailing, voices of reason when I despaired, fierce advocates for my family when the situation called for it, and true hope-givers when it all seemed futile.

Orchard Place built my confidence by teaching me better parenting strategies to strengthen my relationship with my son. Most important of all, our Orchard Place providers never gave up on my family.”
