Islamabad, Sept 27: The British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Robert Brinkley, here on Wednesday inaugurated the new UK visa application centre.
"I am delighted to open this Visa Application Centre which is a testament to our efforts continually to improve the visa service we offer here in Pakistan.
The UK welcomes all genuine visitors from Pakistan and we believe this new Centre will make the process of applying for a UK visa easier," said Brinkley.
Guests attended the inauguration that was followed by an Iftar dinner, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce, the British Council, the International Organisation of Migration; Gerry's International and the British High Commission.
A British High Commission official said that from 27 September 2007 visa applications for the UK would be accepted only at one of the four UK Visa Application Centres. In Islamabad: Plot: 14-B, Sadiq Plaza G-9 Markaz, Karachi: 43/1/D, Block 6, Razi Road, PECHS, Lahore: Ex American Centre Building Opp. Ganga Ram hospital, Queens road, Mirpur: Nau Mahal plaza, Defense road.
Gerry's International will operate these new centres which is UK's visa partner in Pakistan. The centres will be a one-stop shop for UK visa applicants, removing the need for them to travel to the British High Commission in Islamabad to submit their biometrics data.
Gerry's International has also introduced a new Visa Enquiries Call Centre to offer advice to UK visa applicants. Applicants can call 0900-10411 or 8856 from their mobile phones. The Nation

"It is stated that I applied for student VISA of UK in March, 2008 which was refused by the embassy due to some shortcoming documents. I appealed against the refusal in April, 2008 and provided the required documents. The letter for approval of appeal has been sent to me by the embassy vide appeal No. OA/26441/2008 FCO No. 1475191. After laps of 6 months no decision has been made on my appeal. I am waiting for the decision therefore I could no get admission in any institution in Pakistan as my savings has already been deposited in London Reading College .
