“The 90 Day Project has been a huge benefit to rural South Australia and the economy of this State and I strongly support this initiative. I urge the Government to continue to support this fantastic project for the future development of rural South Australia and the transport industry. It has opened the door on a lot of ‘old’ issues that were continually put aside and this has allowed them to be progressed sooner.” David Smith, LRTASA President
“We have together identified many productivity issues for farmers in how they transport produce, and together with PIRSA and DPTI worked towards solutions. This has already resulted in major gains. I feel it is a great example of what can be achieved when industry and Government show goodwill and focus on results.”Rob KerinIndependent Chair, Primary Producers SA

A key outcome of the project has been the development of a strong and collaborative relationship between government and the transport and primary industry sectors. This is the first time these groups have come together in a way that has resulted in significant outcomes.
The outcomes to date have been acted upon immediately by industry, with significant investment in new equipment already taking place.
A number of remaining issues are either currently underway, requiring policy changes, or pending outstanding funding applications.
Additional issues have been classified as:
• low economic and low industry benefit to the state with cost exceeding the expected benefit
• long-term and somewhat broad in their nature, making them difficult to implement
• unsafe or inappropriate nature and will not be implemented.
WHERE TO FROM HERE…
As a result of the overwhelming response to the first 90 day transport project a second stakeholder survey will be opened. This provides industry with an opportunity to provide feedback, identify further constraints and put forward project ideas to enhance agriculture freight movement efficiencies.
