Overview
• Impressionism came to style in 1870-1880s.• The name of the movement is from the piece
titled “Impression” by Claude Monet• Qualities associated with Impressionism are;
visible brush strokes, light and how it changes, and an open composition.
Techniques
• Wet paint is painted on wet paint, making softer edges and colors that blend more together.
• Natural light is very important, and paid special attention to.
• When scenes are painted outdoors, the shadows are made very bold and reflections from the sky are very important making the scene more open.
• They painted at nightfall mostly to get a dusky shadowy affect.

His art fit into the style of surrealism because of it’s light color and almost always showing an action in each painting.
The scene was very open, creating a painting that would breath, also he used a lot of paint. By doing this he would add texture and shape to the painting.
