Golden Lunch Box Celebration

Miss Breece's class celebrated winning the Golden

Lunch Box for the 5th consecutive time with a Nacho

Fiesta! These scholars are a wonderful and consistent

example of our 10 Core Values in the MPR and on the

playground. The whole playground aide team is very

proud on Miss Breece's class!

Bats are mammals…the only ones

who fly! Recently, TK studied what

makes an animal a mammal and

learned about different kinds of

mammals such as beavers, bats

and whales. The scholars worked

together to create this life-like

cave that holds their sleeping

bats. Sweet dreams!

AS AMERICAN AS APPLE PIE: JOHN ADAMS ACADEMY AND THE SACRAMENTO RIVER CATS HOST AN EVENING OF BASEBALL.

John Adams Academy is pleased to invite you to the first JAA Night with the River Cats on

August 30th at Raley's Field. It promises to be an evening of good old-fashioned family fun.

And, what could be more American than John Adams and Baseball (America’s pastime)?

The evening will kick-off with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem, sung by our very

own JAA High School Chorus, followed by the ceremonial first pitch. John Adams Academy

teachers will be honored, as well, for all of their hard work and dedication. And, of course

the River Cats baseball club will put on a good show as they take on the Reno Aces.

Tickets for this special event will go on sale at the Heritage Fair on June 3rd. Just look for

Dinger, the River Cats boisterous mascot, as he will be onsite during the Heritage Fair to

promote the JAA Night with the River Cats. Mark your calendars and secure your tickets

because this is one event you will not want to miss!

Arts in the Park Volunteering

Weekly Bulletin: May 16th – 20th

Need more volunteer hours before the end of the year? The art department needs your help! Are you available on Friday, May 20th anytime between 12:30-3:00pm? We need help hanging artwork and setting up the art exhibits for Arts in the Park. We will be setting everything up at the Auburn Garden Theatre at 350 Nevada Street in Auburn. Set up will be outside and all materials, displays and artwork will be at the site before we arrive.

We could probably use between 8-10 people to help with set up and it's OK if you can't be there for the whole time, but just want to stop by during that time and help for a little bit! Please sign-up HERE.

Every little bit helps and the more the merrier! Thank you SO much!

Black & White Film Society On Thursday, June 2 at 6pm, our march forward through classic film concludes for the year with a viewing and discussion of The Wizard of Oz (1939), starring Judy Garland. But have no fear, we'll be back next year with Year Two (of four) of the Black and White Film Society!

To celebrate our final film for the year, there will be a special raffle-based film giveaway (based on this year's attendance to the Society), and also a group-based film trivia game. One group of three scholars will each be taking home a copy of The Wizard of Oz on Blu-ray. Yes, you heard it right!

The event will be held in the Washington MPR, and is intended for all JAA scholars and their families. Again, all JAA scholars and their families are welcome to attend. No RSVP needed. Parents with scholars under 7th grade should plan to attend the event with their scholar. Parents with older scholars not staying for the event, please plan to pick up at 8:30. No scholars should still be waiting for their ride past 8:45. Thank you!

Cell phones should be silenced or turned off during the event.

We’re on a HUNT for Prizes!

Our PSO Dance-A-Thon team is revving up and on the hunt for awesome raffle prizes that scholars can win this fall! There will be a prize drop-off station at the Heritage Fair for families who would like to purchase and donate new toys/gift cards/tickets/etc… (every $20 spent = 1 volunteer hour!) Your business could even sponsor prizes and be recognized for it!

We also need help hunting for and gathering up raffle prize donations from businesses. We’ve divided up our database of local and corporate businesses into lists of 10, based on location or contact policies. Join our Dance-A-Thon Group on ParentSquare to sign up & stay up to date on all the ways you can get involved and earn volunteer hours on your schedule over the summer. Meetings not required! Email: [email protected] with questions/suggestions or donation leads.
