Certificate Courses
The Centre of Applied Rural Technology (CART) of the
College offers two vocational and job-oriented, one-year
Certificate programmes in Office Management and Secretarial
Practice and Motor Vehicle Mechanic, with specialization in
two-wheelers and four-wheelers, with an intake of 40 and 60
students respectively. These courses provide hands-on
experience in office management and automobile repair and
maintenance respectively.The Motor Vehicle Mechanic
certificate course is being offered in the Distance Education
mode with effect from the 2004-05 session.
The CART also offers industry-oriented courses in which
students learn to make candles, hangers, fibre glass items,
etc. They are also exposed to the working of knitting
machines making items like socks, mufflers etc. This helps
them to imbibe the quality of an entrepreneur.
The College has several well-equipped laboratories that
support and reinforce class-room teaching.
The Automobile Laboratory has the latest equipment for
Pollution Testing such as Four Gas Analyser, Diesel Smoke
Meter and NOx Analyser and also Engine Analyser, Wheel
Aligner, Wheel Balancer, and Head Light Aligner for student
practical training. The Department is working on developing
catalytic converter for diesel engines. The Department has an
attached Automobile Service Repair & Training Centre where
the repair and overhaul of vehicle systems is carried out.
The department has several vintage cars which help
showcase the development of automobiles right from spoke
wheels used in cars to the most modern Multi-point Fuel
Injected engine. A trainer aircraft of World War II vintage
with working controls helps in teaching a course on
Elementary Aeronautical Engineering.
The Electrical Workshop provides hands-on experience
for domestic and industrial wiring and testing. Experiments
like earth resistance measurement, testing of insulation
material and oil, rewinding of rotors and stators, calibration
of 1-phase and 3-phase meters with test bench are carried
out in the workshop. The Department provides an in-house
industrial environment through Programmable Logic
Controllers and VVVF drives which are used to implement
conveyer systems, level control and speed control of AC &
DC motors, etc.
The well-equipped Mechanical Workshop with modern
machines provides students with hands-on experience on
current manufacturing practices. The mechanical workshop
has been upgraded with state-of-the-art machines like MIG
welding, Heat treatment furnaces, Universal milling
machine, Copy turning attachment, Surface grinders, etc.
The College boasts a well-equipped Computer Centre
comprising a network of 20 state-of-the-art computers. The
Centre is connected to the other computer centres of the
Institute through a fibre optic backbone. Students are
exposed to a variety of applications required in industry.
The D.E.I. Technical College, Dayalbagh, established as a
Technical School in 1927 and later upgraded to a College
in 1930, has been contributing, ever since its inception, to
the pool of technically trained manpower in the country.
With effect from the academic session 1986-87 it has
been brought under the administrative and academic
control of the Dayalbagh Educational Institute (Deemed
University). This momentous event enhanced manifold
the efficacy of the college in grooming a student into a
'complete man'.
The present Diploma courses in Automobile, Electrical
and Mechanical Engineering are enriched through inter-
disciplinary courses and core courses such as
Comparative Study of Religions and Cultural Education.
Activities such as Sports, Games, Co-curricular Activities,
Agricultural Operations and Social Service, along with
the core courses form an integral part of the curricula and
help build the overall personality of an individual.
With more than 75 years of proven excellence in
imparting technical education, the College has taken a
leading role in continuously upgrading its infrastructure
and curricula to provide technical training to its students
in keeping with the times. The College offers diploma
and certificate programmes of study.
Diploma Courses
Three broad-based diploma programmes in Automobile,
Electrical and Mechanical Engineering disciplines with an
intake of 30, 60, and 60 students, respectively, are
offered. Elective courses and student projects in up-
coming areas of different streams of engineering such as
Pollution Testing and Control, Microprocessors and PLC-
based systems, Power Electronics, Information
Technology and Modern Manufacturing Practices etc.
ensure that our students stay abreast of modern
technology. Applied Science courses are also included to
strengthen the foundation of academic knowledge.
A distinctive feature of the curriculum, designed to
inculcate vocational and entrepreneurial skills is work-
based training which ensures that theory and practice are
in the right proportion.
