During the month of October we will focus mainly on the magnificent character traits of generosi-ty, kindness, courtesy, cooperativeness and hon-esty. George Washington Carver, American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor said, “How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympa-thetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life, you will have been all of these.”

Mother Teresa , winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, said, “ "Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless."

Remember, if you practice good character traits, then the traits become life habits.

Only you can choose to live your life with good character!

Self-esteem is not something you are born with. When children are very young, they develop their sense of self worth. If they receive only negative reinforcement, they won’t think that much of them-selves. But if they constantly receive encourage-ment and praise, they begin to develop a sense of pride. Each child is special and possess unique

talents and abilities. Tip # 1Tell your child you love him or her at least once a day. Tip # 2 Don’t let your child go to bed angry with you—or thinking that you are mad with him or her. Tip #3 Set aside a special talk time each day to discuss the events of the day.

Idioms You Live and Learn

“Come Apart at the Seams”

Meaning: To become upset and loose self-control Joe began to “come apart at the seams” once he found out he had to take a test and he knew he hadn’t studied.

Yes! That’s right! The student’s breakfast and lunch are free this school year! The parents don’t even have to fill out a lunch application! That’s some tasty news!

The breakfast line closes at 7:50 a.m. If you change the way your child is going home, send a note to the teacher and/or office. This is done for the safety of your child.

Save your box tops, fill up your collection sheet and turn it in to your school! You will be helping out L. O. Kimberly and earning a “Caught Ya” ticket!
