DELIVERED Works, Services & Activities in the last quarter n Gordonvale Library refurbishment completed, including external and internal treatments, additional computers, new technology bench, and meeting room (pictured below) n Church Street and School Street footpath renewal in Babinda n Babinda Boulders Improvement works commenced – includes construction of an all- abilities access ramp into the main swimming hole, replacements of footbridges, viewing platform and balustrading at lookouts n Developed new Economic Development Plans for Babinda and Gordonvale n Redevelopment of Petersen Park, Edmonton (pictured right), is nearing completion. Two new rectangular playing fields will be seeded this month and will be ready for use next year. Welcome to the first Cairns Regional

Council quarterly newsletter for DIVISION 1 – which takes in Mirriwinni, Bramston Beach, Babinda, Aloomba, Gordonvale, parts of Edmonton and East Trinity. Rugby League World Cup coming soon!

The world comes to Cairns this October for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup! Barlow Park will host three matches over two days – a double header on October 29 with Ireland v Italy, followed by Scotland v Tonga. The Scots return on November 11 to tackle Samoa.Each weekend for the duration of the event there will be a free “live site” on the Cairns Esplanade with cultural showcases from the countries calling Cairns home during the tournament. TIME TO SUPPORT APPEALThe Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal supports families who are doing it tough by providing a Christmas hamper. Donations to the Appeal can be made via Council’s website; at one of Council’s customer service offices with cash, credit card, cheque or money order; or by dropping some coins in one of the donation tins located at various local businesses.
