THESE ARE THE KIDNEYS
1.) Our kidneys can be damaged by :
-Hypertension (high blood pressure)
-Diabetes mellitus (high level of glucose in the blood)
-Excessive use of alcohol
-Long term use of medicines, e.g. antibiotics, aspirin
and panadol
-Old age
2.) Kidney damage can be detected
through signs such as:
-High blood pressure which is difficult
to control
-Blood, albumen or creatinine in the
urine
-Reduced volume of urine
* Unhealthy kidneys often cannot remove
all the excretory wastes from the blood.
The remaining waste substances will then
accumulate to a harmful level in the
blood. The harmful waste in the blood is
poisonous to the to the body cells
* The main causes of kidney damage are
high blood pressure and diabetes
To look after our kidneys well, we
should go for regular check-ups
