Introduction

ANZLIC, the Spatial Information Council, is the peak intergovernmental organisation providing leadership in the collection, management and use of spatial information in Australia and New Zealand. All States, Territories, Australian and New Zealand Governments.

The Office of Spatial Data Management (OSDM) facilitates and coordinates spatial data management across Australian Government agencies.

Why implement ANZLIC Profile?

The ANZLIC Profile is an Australian, New Zealand specific profile of the International Metadata Standard ISO 19115.

Metadata is a structured description of a resource designed to enable easy discovery and access.

The ANZLIC Profile gives a consistent and understood format to (spatial) metadata.

ANZLIC Profile Review – The RulesThe sub-group has agreed on some guidelines for determining how changes to the profile are assessed. These include:

If its in the standard, then it must be in the profile.

An element may become mandatory if and only if the content for that element can be determined for every possible scenario.
