EXPANSION RULESTe ollowing sections describe the new rules eatured inthe components o Twin Shadows.

DEPLOYMENT CARD RESTRICTIONSSome Deployment cards can be used in only one style o

play in Imperial Assault . A Deployment card marked witha Campaign Deployment Icon can be used only in acampaign, while a Deployment card marked with aSkirmish Deployment Icon can be used only in a skirmish.

TILE TYPESEach map tile in Imperial Assault  has one or more  corresponding to the environment that tilerepresents. Tese types have no direct gameplay effectbut may be reerred to by other components.

Te primary tile type distinction is between interior andexterior (see “Interior Spaces” on page 15 o the RulesReerence Guide in the core game). Other tile typesinclude orest and desert tiles. Te tile types or the tilesound in the core game and those introduced in TwinShadows are as ollows:

    • Forest: - Core game tiles 01A-18A, 37A, 38B, and 39A

    • Desert:

     - Core game tiles 01B-18B, 37A, 38A, and 39B

     - Twin Shadows tiles 04B-07B

    • Interior:

     - Twin Shadows tiles 01A-07A and 01B-03B

HABITATH is a keyword ound on certain Deploymentcards. During a campaign, when the Imperial playeris selecting open groups or a mission, he can choosea Deployment card with the Habitat keyword only ithere is at least one tile in that mission’s map whose typematches the listed Habitat.

Note: During a skirmish, Habitat has no effect.

    CampaignDeployment Icon

    SkirmishDeployment Icon

CLASS CARDSSome heroes, such as Biv Bodhrik, have a Class deck thincludes Item cards with an XP cost. Tese cards can bepurchased with XP like any other Class card and are uselike other items o the same type. I a player wishes tosell any o these items afer purchasing them, he may doso or 50 credits like any other Item card without a listed

    credit cost.

DEVICE TOKENSTe hero Saska ef uses device tokens to grantboth hersel and her ellow Rebels powerulabilities. Tese tokens have no inherentunction and only interact with abilitiesound on Saska ef’s Hero sheet and Class cards.

During campaign setup, when Saska ef is chosen asa hero, place the device tokens in a supply near her

play area. During a mission, Saska’s abilities may allowriendly figures to claim and discard these tokens orbeneficial effects.

Te number o device tokens that figures cancollectively claim is limitedby the providedsupply o eighttokens. A figure canindividually claimany number othese tokens.

    RULEBOOK

    IMPERIAL ASSAULT-EXPANSION NAME

RULES REFERENCE ADDITIONS“When I lef you I was but the learner; now I am themaster.” – Darth Vader , A New Hope

Tis section introduces new combinations andclarifications o existing rules that are not includedin the Rules Reerence Guide in the core game, particularly with relation to new components ound inTwin Shadows.

I an entry in this section has the same title as an entryin the Rules Reerence Guide, treat the inormationin this section as augmenting that entry in the RulesReerence Guide.

Like in the core game, i a rule in this section contradictsa rule in the core game Learn to Play booklet or SkirmishGuide, the rule in this section takes priority.

Additionally, i a rule in this section should contradicta rule ound the core game’s Rules Reerence Guide, therule in this section takes priority.

ATTACKS• Some abilities allow a figure to perorm an attack

with a different attack type and attack pool than theirnormal attack.

     - When a hero perorms an attack using an attackpool unrelated to his weapons (such as the meleeattack rom “Close and Personal” on Biv Bodhrik’sHero Sheet), he cannot use any abilities rom his

    weapons during that attack.

     - When a figure corresponding to a Deploymentcard perorms an attack using an alternate attackpool (such as the melee attack rom “Close andPersonal” on Biv Bodhrik’s Deployment card), theymay still trigger their surge abilities, unless theability triggering the attack states otherwise.

ATTRIBUTE TESTS• Many attribute tests required by mission rules requi

the figure perorming the test to interact with anobject (such as a mission token, terminal, or door).Tese are reerred to as attribute tests on objects.

    • Some missions allow any Rebel figure to perormattribute tests on objects, instead o only heroes.

I this occurs, allies can interact to perorm thosetests in the same way a hero would. Elite figuresautomatically receive 1 success when they perormattribute tests. Regular figures automatically ail test

“YOU”Many cards use the word “you” to reer to a figureinstead o the player. For example, i a Deployment cardreads “While attacking, you may reroll 1 attack die,” anyfigure belonging to that card’s group may reroll one die

while it is attacking.• I an effect corresponding to a figure instructs “you”

to claim a token, gain VPs, or manipulate cards, orreers to “your” army or figures, “you” reers to thatfigure’s player.

    RULEBOOK6TWIN SHADOWS

    STOP!

Only the Imperial player is allowed to readinormation contained in the campaign portion othis rulebook. Rebel players can ask the Imperialplayer to repeat any rules previously read, but theyare never allowed to look at or read any o themission inormation beyond this page.

THE MINI CAMPAIGNIn addition to being usable in a ull campaign, themissions included in Twin Shadows can be played insuccession to orm a narrative mini campaign thatrequires only 6-8 hours to complete.

MINI CAMPAIGN SETUPBeore starting a new mini campaign, perorm only steps1-3 o “Campaign Setup” as outlined on page 7 o theRules Reerence Guide in the core game. Ten, perormthe ollowing steps:

    1. Build the Agenda Deck: Te Imperial playerbuilds his deck o Agenda cards ollowing theguidelines in “Building the Agenda Deck” on page4 o the Rules Reerence Guide in the core game.Ten, he returns all cards in his Agenda deck that areplayed as side or orced missions to the game box.

    2. Upgrade Heroes: Each hero receives 3 XP and heroescollectively receive 400 credits per hero. Ten, heroesresolve a Rebel Upgrade Stage. When purchasingItem cards during this Rebel Upgrade Stage, Rebelplayers draw cards rom the ier 1 Item deck anddraw ten cards instead o six.

    3. Upgrade Imperial Player: Te Imperial playerreceives 3 XP. Ten, he perorms an ImperialUpgrade Stage but skips purchasing Agenda cards.

    4. Set Up Introductory Mission: Players are then ready

to set up and play the Introductory mission or themini campaign. For Twin Shadows, the Introductorymission is “Hunted Down” (see page 8).

PLAYING THE MINI CAMPAIGNPlaying the mini campaign is similar to playing a ullcampaign (see “Playing a Campaign” on page 10 o theLearn to Play booklet in the core game).

Unlike a ull campaign, missions in the mini campaignare all considered to be story missions and are played in

a specific order. Side missions are not played during themini campaign.

During the Mission Stage, Rebel players do not choosethe next mission to resolve based upon active Side orStory Mission cards. Instead, each mission’s epiloguewill determine the next active mission to be resolved.

    EPILOGUES

When playing the mini campaign, each mission’s“End o Mission” text will direct players to resolvean additional event. Tese events are reerred to asepilogues (see “Te Epilogues” on page 20) andprovide additional narrative text as well as rewardsspecific to mini campaign progression.

Additionally, the epilogue indicates the next activemission the players will resolve. When this happens, players should record the name and page number o thamission in the next mission entry o the campaign log(see “Te Campaign Log” below).

Afer resolving the epilogue, players progress to the“Post-Mission Cleanup” portion o the Mission Stage.

    THE CAMPAIGN LOG

Like in a ull campaign, players utilize a campaign log totrack and record inormation relevant to the progressioo the mini campaign.

Te campaign log or the Twin Shadows mini campaignis ound on the back o this rulebook and is used in aashion identical to the campaign log in the core game.

Players can print out additional campaign logs online a
