The December meeting for Southwest Valley 4-H was held on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:00 P.M. at the Ben Hulse Elementary School Cafeteria. During this meeting there was a Yoga health demonstra-tion by Becky McWane. Our members learned about how to wake up and stretch as well as stretching throughout the day and being more active.

In the meeting Jayden Taylor went over the plans for the parade of lights again and they were to place lights all around our bikes so that we could ride them through the parade. We also asked for chair or co-chair people as well as committee members to organize the large animal pre-fair which we are co-hosting.

The Hospitality Officers randomly selected members to select presents provided by the club at the end of the meeting. The healthy living food snacks at the monthly meeting were grapes, bananas, straw-berries, and marshmallows put together to look like the Grinch because it’s almost Christmas and our last meeting before Christmas.

Our next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at 6:30 P.M. at the Ben Hulse Elementary School Cafeteria.

Respectfully Submitted by,

Dillon Sanchez

This is a great learning opportunity to test out your showmanship skills. Participants are judged just as they would be at the Fair and are given critiques so they know what to improve upon in the next month. They are given tips, and “real world” practice in order to polish their skills before the Fair. The hosting clubs will be sending out an email with location information!

The 4-H Christmas Market was a great success! The proceeds from the silent auction aid in refurbishing the still exhibits building located at the IVEXPO. 4-H members, leaders and community members donated home-made crafts and baskets of goodies to be auctioned off. We look forward to seeing you next year at this fantastic event! Thank you again to the 4-H members and Volunteers who helped.

All Star Corner

The weekend of December 13 and 14 we traveled to Redlands to attend

the South Section 4-H TIC (Teen Involvement Conference) planning

meeting. On our way to the meeting Saturday night we took a side tour

and visited Candy Cane Lane which consisted of 50 decorated homes on

Minerva Rd in Cathedral City. Sunday morning, the TIC staff members

got down to business and finalized the program, activities and events for

the upcoming Teen Involvement Conference. We are really excited about

the event and are pleased with the 14 4-H members from Imperial

County who have signed up so far!!! It’s going to be an amazing event!

We want to encourage more 13-year-old members to go online, register

and plan on having an awesome time! We want to remind everyone that

is going to the conference to “green out” your closet and please bring a

gently used coat( s) to donate – any size from infant to adult and any

color for the TIC Community Service Project.

The All Star team would like to con-

gratulate the Imperial County CAL

Focus team of Baylee Rose, Amy

Sanchez and Marty Cortez for putting

on a fun event and fulfilling their

“Plan of Action” by partnering up

with various 4-H Clubs, community

groups, individuals and businesses.

We were the guests of a group of

Brawley businessmen for the 11th

Annual Boy Scouts of America

Holiday Home Tour in Brawley. The

evening started with a scrumptious

dinner at the Brawley Stockmen’s

Club and then we visited four

uniquely decorated homes.

The All– Stars had another great month! All three of us had

fun participating and winning bids on three items during the

silent auction at the 4-H Christmas Market! The three of us

donated some photographs and cookie kits to the auction.
