Nowhere is wealth inequality more evident than in cities—where often the largest concentration of wealth, power, and resources can often be found within blocks of extreme poverty and repression. As the final event at the Unlikely Allies Festival, the Vancouver Economic Commission and the Canadian Consulate will be leading an Allies Auction at the closing We Are the Cities reception.

The Allies Auction provides one last chance to connect with unlikely allies by pitching-for-partners that care about your mission.

FORMAT 2 Sessions, 20 Minutes, 30 Pitches Each participant gets 60 seconds to pitch their venture and make an ask. We suggest the following format: The PROBELM you are trying to solve The SOLUTION you are providing The ASKS you can ask for up to three things

Session 1: 7:00 PM Session 2: 8:00 PM Although companies are welcome to mention that they are actively fundraising, we are asking each impact venture to make at least one ask that can be solved on site. For example, “I am looking for a connection with the City of Barcelona” or “I am looking for help building a digital tool to manage our community”.

At the end of each pitch, the audience throws up their hand if they can help with one of the asks. Staff and partners from the Vancouver contingent will collect business cards (or otherwise record) those that want to connect with a participant, and at the end of the 20 minute session pitch-participants get the chance to connect with the unlikely allies that have offered to help.
