Christine Van Rooyen is a57-year-old Clinical Services Headfrom North Yorkshire. Enjoying afast moving career, Christine waslooking for her next career stepwhen she started struggling tokeep up with conversationsat work.
She found herself missing things in meetings and feltembarrassed that she appeared confused to colleagues or gavethe impression she did not understand what was being said.
It was only as the problems worsened that Christine started torealise that she was not hearing properly and was prompted byan advertisement to get her hearing tested.
“Despite all the problems that I was experiencing, I wassurprised to find that I had a hearing loss. Getting fitted with ahearing instrument gave me back my confidence and mycareer. I am amazed at the difference it has made,” saidChristine.
“I like the fact that you onlyhave to change the program onone hearing instrument and theother automatically adjusts. It’sgreat when you’re in a hurry, ina meeting or theatre as it's lessconspicuous than trying toadjust both hearing instrumentsat the same time.”

Bob Haddon is an 87-year-oldretired electrical salesman fromWest Sussex who has been deaf forthe last ten years.
Initially, Bob refused to recognise he had a hearing problem, even though family members would comment on how loud hewas talking and the fact that he had difficulties hearing fullconversations and using the telephone. Others would alsocomment that they could hear his TV from the end of thedrive.
On reaching his mid-eighties, Bob realised it wasn’t fair toexpect his family and friends to keep repeating themselves andso he opted to seek the advice of an audiologist. Bob wasfitted with silver binaural Siemens IMPACT M hearinginstruments, which were integrated with Siemens Tek™. TheBluetooth receiver was then configured to connect Bob’sIMPACTS to a range of devices including his house phone, TVand radio player.
“As I was a wireless operator in Burma during the war, I think itis quite fitting that I’m now benefiting from Bluetooth wirelesstechnology. Once I was fitted with IMPACT I was amazed at thedifference it made.
"Keeping in touch with myfamily is the most importantthing to me and I feel my newhearing instruments are makinga huge difference to not onlyme but my family too. Thesound clarity and quality isexcellent for watching the TVand very good for listening tomusic as I can now listen at amuch lower volume thanbefore.”

Robert Bennett is a 64-year-oldOperational Support Manager fromEast Sussex who has worn hearinginstruments for a number of years.
Due to the nature of his job, which is based at Gatwick Airport,Robert wanted the latest technology to keep up with thedemands of his day to day role.
Robert struggled to answer mobile phone calls as he firsthad to remove one of his hearing instruments from his ear, something he was also quite self-conscious about. This, coupled with the fact that he works in such a noisyenvironment, meant Robert needed more from his hearinginstruments.
He was fitted with silver binaural Siemens IMPACT DP hearinginstruments, which were integrated with Siemens Tek™. TheBluetooth receiver was then configured to connect Robert’sIMPACTs to a range of devices including his house phone, TVand radio.
“I previously wore Siemens PRISMA hearing instruments, whichhelped me enormously in both work and home life situations, but having worn them for a number of years I decided Iwanted to upgrade the technology.”
“Since being fitted with IMPACT,I have already noticed a hugedifference. I wear the instrumentsfor 16-18 hours a day and theTek system is better thananything I have used in the past. They are extremely comfortableto wear in all listeningenvironments. Overall I havefound them to be excellent.”
