Residential Tariffs

Refuse Charges

Ÿ This charge is levied to residential (domestic) customers and is determined based on the value of the

property.

Ÿ A standard domestic refuse removal service will comprise the removal of one 240 litre wheeled bin per

week.

Ÿ All properties valued at and below R350 000 as well as indigent's household are exempted from this

charge.

Business Tariffs

City Cleaning Levy (CCL)

Ÿ This charge is levied to all non-residential zoned properties in the City's Land Information System

(LIS).

Ÿ Property values (as per general valuation roll) are used to determine the tariff category for each

individual customer.

Ÿ All agricultural properties, including agricultural residential properties will attract this charge/levy

instead of a refuse charge.

Ÿ This tariff will apply to all properties registered within the City, Inner City Properties and Urban

Development Zone (UDZ) that are not zoned “residential” properties in the LIS system. The tariff

categories for City Cleaning Levy are as per table below at an increase of 7% as compared to last

year.

Non Sectional Title Properties

Non sectional title properties with multiple living units of R87 per unit.

Ÿ This refuse collection tariff or user charge is applicable to non-sectional title properties in the City zoned as residential or

business properties which contain living units on successful application from the City. This tariff will only be applicable to

those properties that have been approved for this category. If the application fails, the commercial or business tariff will apply.

Non sectional title properties containing living rooms R36 per room with shared facilities per month.

Ÿ This refuse collection tariff or user charge is applicable to non-sectional title properties in the City zoned as residential or

business properties which contain rooms for habitations with shared ablution facilities on successful application from the

City. If the application fails the commercial or business tariff will apply.

Animal Carcass Removals.

Ÿ The standard charge for the animal carcass removal service has been rescinded.

Additional and Lost or Stolen bins.

Ÿ The provision of additional bins and replacement of stolen or lost bins is governed by the City's Bin Management Policy. In

terms of this policy a stolen or lost bin can only be replaced once for free within a cycle of 8 years. Any additional replacement

of a lost or stolen bin within this cycle will be at a cost to the resident/customer. The cost will be determined from time to time

by Pikitup Finance Unit and will include the actual cost of the bin and delivery cost. This principle also apply to

customers/residents who want additional bins.

Landfills Disposal of Refuse

A tariff increase of 7% will be levied with respect to landfills sites. The following user charges will be payable for

using the City's refuse disposal sites.

Bins required for special events

Ÿ A deposit equal to the cost of a bin or a skip will be required from the customers. The deposit is refundable once the bin/skip

has been collected or returned to Pikitup. A delivery charge amounting to R227 will be levied to all customers who require the

delivery charge of bins/skips. The delivery charge is not applicable to customers who choose to collect the bins from Pikitup

Depot or Stores. A daily charge of R22 per bin and R57 per skip will be levied to customers for each day the skip/bin remain in

their possession.

General

All other council services not itemised above including disposal fees will also be subject to an increase by 7%.

Ÿ The charge in respect of any waste management services rendered and not provided for elsewhere in the tariffs for

2019/2020 shall be negotiated directly with Pikitup.

Ÿ The City reserves the right to refuse the rendering of any service if the rendering thereof is impractical.

Ÿ The City will not refund any monies unless the user gives notification in writing. Rebates will only be backdated to a maximum

of three months from the date of a written notification.
