ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of training and development on

employees' productivity using First bank of Nigeria plc as a case study. The

problem that led to this research is failure of embarking on training and

development for their employees against the general believe of lack of fund.

The overall objective of this research is to determine whether training

and development programme can be associated with improved profitability.

Also, to determine the effect of training on staff ability to use modern

equipment efficiently.

The use of various relevant personnel management text books were

reviewed, Also, relevant journals and published and seminar paper were

used. The used of structured questionnaire was used to collect data. Data

were obtained from forty (40) staff of the bank. The used of tables,

percentages were employed to analyzed the data collected. The hypotheses

formulated were tested using chi-square test.

The research revealed the following findings: First Bank Nig PIc

maintained good rapport with its employees. Also, employees' efforts are

adequately rewarded. The finding also confirmed that the organization value

competence and dedication to duties. It was concluded that. training of

organization staff has constantly enhanced the stiff competitions and harsh

economy environment. It was suggested that training participant should be

well informed about the organization goals and the purpose for which they

are to be trained.
