Versatile and efficient Metso Impact Dryer Systems offer a wide range of capabilities for the removal of moisture from fine or fibrous materials. These units de-agglomerate wet feed material in a hot / turbulent gas stream, producing discrete particles of dry product. Typical installations include drying of filter cakes, high-density slurries and sludges.

How it worksMost wet feed material can be introduced directly into the Impact Dryer. If the material is extremely wet or sticky, it may be fed to a backmixer to blend with some previously dried product before entering the dryer, the lumpy feed material is exposed to incoming hot gases, and surface moisture is quickly evaporated. The feed is swept into the dryer by the hot gases where the rapidly spinning rotor de-agglomerates any lumps and the turbulent hot air evaporates moisture from exposed particles.
