Si vemos la luna como la protagonista del cielo nocturno esdebido al gran contraste de luz y sombra que se produce ahíarriba. El hecho de no poder tocar la fachada, y por tanto nopoder abrirse a la calle, hace que el local quede encerrado ensí mismo y tenga casi la obligación de crearse una escena pro-pia y mirar hacia el antiguo patio de la casa, hasta ahora obvia-do, situado en la parte de atrás de la casa. El espacio de trabajoes fruto de la agrupación de dos locales anexos, hecha unoscuantos años atrás. Por tanto el proyecto presenta un mismolenguaje para evitar la sensación de estar en dos ambientes yasí unificar criterios. Por una parte se decide mover la barrade su ubicación original y situarla en sentido longitudinal paradar mas perspectiva al local y ganar mas amplitud para lasdiversas actividades que organiza el club. El primer motivo porel cual se decide oscurecer el espacio es debido al principiode contrastes entre luces y sombras. Los nuevos elementosasumen una presencia como la que asume la luna en el cielo,siendo los nuevos puntos de referencia y de iluminación delespacio. El segundo motivo responde a la necesidad de resaltarlos dos grandes arcos de piedra existentes, hasta ahora sin laimportancia que merecían y que son reminiscencia del pasado.Por lo que respecta al patio, éste se va a utilizar como nuevopunto de referencia en el horizonte, dándole todo el protago-nismo al antiguo pozo de agua y creando un nuevo contrasteentre luz y sombra, lo nuevo y lo tradicional.

SA LLUNA CLUB SE LOCALIZA EN EL CASCO ANTIGUODE LA PEQUEÑA CIUDAD DE INCA, MALLORCA. ELPROYECTO CONSIST¸A EN RENOVAR LA IMAGEN DELCLUB QUE RESIDE EN LA PLANTA BAJA DE UNA CASATRADICIONAL MALLORQUINA.

If we can see the moon as the main character of the night skyis due to the high contrast of light and shadow that occurs upthere. The inability to touch the facade, and therefore can notbe open to the street, makes the space self-enclosed area andhave almost an obligation to create a scene and look to theold courtyard of the house, so far ignored, located in the backof the house. The workspace is the result of lthe union of twoannexes, done a few years ago. Therefore the project presentsa common language to avoid the feeling of being in two envi-ronments and give just one image of the club. In this pointappears the desission to move the bar from its original loca-tion and place it longitudinally to give more local perspectiveand gain more space for the several activities organized by theclub. The first reason why we decided to darken the space isdue to the principle of contrast between light and shadow. Thenew elements assume a presence like the moon does in thesky, being the new benchmarks and lighting the space. Lluna isa catalan word that in english means „moon‰, so we just tookan abstract reference to imagine the new space without fallingin platitudes. The second reason meets the need to highlightthe two existing stone arches to give the importnace theydeserve and to keep the reminiscence of the past. Finally thecourtyard will be used as a new benchmark in the horizon,giving center stage to the old water well and creating a newcontrast between light and shadow, what is new and what istraditional.

SA LLUNA CLUB IS LOCATED IN THE OLD TOWN OFINCA, MALLORCA. THE PROJECT WAS TO RENEW THECLUBÊS IMAGE THAT RESIDES ON THE GROUND FLOOROF A TRADITIONAL MALLORCAN HOUSE.

NEMAWORKSHOP

El cliente se acercó a Nemaworkshop con la ambición deconstruir una marca de café espresso única y desarrollar unentorno creativo que se conectase con su ubicación en laAvenida Madison, cerca de la Grand Central Station.Inspirados por la cercana biblioteca del Parque Bryant, Nemaworkshop diseñó una tienda que con una idea aparentementesencilla: tener una biblioteca y darle la vuelta. Las estanteríasde libros se convierten en pavimentos y falsos techos mientrasque el suelo de madera termina en las paredes y las lámparassobresalen hacia los lados de la pared. Para conseguir colocarlas estanterías en el pavimento, el espacio se reviste confotografías a tamaño real, en tonos sepia, de libros impresossobre baldosas personalizadas. Éstas recorren la planta hastael muro y a través del techo. La pared de vidrio esmeriladodetrás del mostrador de servicio ilumina el espacio, y la paredde enfrente está revestida en marrón oscuro con hiladascolocadas en espina de pez. El empuje de este conceptoencuentra su expresión en la iluminación y la materialidad, yen última instancia el espacio da definición a esta marcaemergente. El concepto, en sí mismo, es audaz y receptivo afuturas localizaciones.

UBICADO EN LA AVENIDA MADISON, EL BARDÊESPRESSO CONVIERTE CONCEPTUAL Y LITERALMEN-TE UN LOCAL NORMAL EN UN ESPACIO QUE SE MIRADE SOSLAYO, CREANDO UNA NOTABLE IDENTIDADPARA ESTA MARCA EMERGENTE.

The client approached nemaworkshop with an ambition tobuild a unique espresso brand and to develop a creative envi-ronment that connects to its location on Madison Avenuenear Grand Central Station. Inspired by the nearby BryantPark Library, nemaworkshop designed a store that is straight-forward in a simple twisted way – Take a library and turn itSIDEWAYS. The booklined shelves become the floor and cei-lings and wood floor ends up on the walls meanwhile the pen-dants protrude sideways from the wall. To achieve the booksshelves on the floor, the space is lined with sepia-toned fullsize photograph of books printed on custom tiles. The customtiles run along the floor, up the 15Ê foot wall and across theceiling. The frosted glass wall behind the service counter illu-minates the space and the wall directly opposite is clad in darkbrown herringbone. The thrust of this concept finds expres-sion in the lighting and materiality, and ultimately the spacegives definition to the emerging brand. The concept itself isbold and receptive to future locations.

LOCATED ON MADISON AVENUE, THE ESPRESSO BARCONCEPTUALLY AND LITERALLY TURNS A NORMALROOM SIDEWAYS, CREATING A STRIKING IDENTITY FORTHE EMERGING BRAND.
