According to the new IMA® Global Salary Survey, 70% of accountants and financial professionals reported a pay raise.

Median total compensation for management accounting and finance professionals in the U.S. increased from $105,500 to $113,000.

The median total compensation across 81 countries was $66,000.

Globally, Switzerland, the U.S., and the Netherlands had the highest salary and

total compensation. Egypt had the lowest.

The highest-paying areas of responsibility were:

• Information systems

• Education

• Corporate accounting

• General management

Professionals in less traditional areas of responsibility saw an increase in salary.

Budgeting

Cost Control Risk Management

Planning

Pay for accountants with traditional skills stayed about the same.

• Corporate accounting

• Taxation

• General accounting

• Internal audit

Certification led to significantly higher pay, and it also opened the

door for new career opportunities.

CMAs (Certified Management Accountants) surveyed believed it

strengthened their ability to move across all areas of the business.
