What you should be able to do:
Fine Art Photography
• In Fine Art photography, the photographer is more concerned with pursuing his or her artistic vision than reproducing an exact likeness of the subject.
• Fine Art photographs are often characterised by the use of:
• Black and White
• Vintage look
• Emotion
• Abstract

• Most modern cameras and tablets enable us to render our photographs with a variety of effects
• It is important to use settings carefully, to enhance the quality of the photograph, rather than use them just because they are there
• Effects can be set up before the image is captured OR the photograph can be manipulated after it is taken
Artistic Settings
• The same subject, taken from the same spot will give hugely differing results, depending on whether your lens is in wide angle, full zoom, or somewhere in between.
Focal Lengths
• Students to identify objects of interest around the classroom and take pictures featuring all three focal lengths
Focal Length Activity
• Show the students three suggestions for pictures of objects around the room
• Pupils to identify objects of interest around the classroom and take pictures, thinking about light/shade, composition, background, fill the frame.
