Imaging Americathe annual conference of the Great Lakes American Studies Association
“Imaging America” evokes themes fundamental to the
discipline of American studies and representative of some
of the most current research in the field.
The conference will consider how America is pictured,
configured, and imagined on multiple levels.
Keynote Addresses:
Phil Deloria, Professor of History, University of Michigan,
and current president of the American Studies Association
Shawn Michelle Smith, Associate Professor of Visual and
Critical Studies, School of the Art Institute of Chicago
The conference will also feature free film showings,
a reception at the Northern Indiana Center for History,
