Activity 1

• After you have listened to the audio clip work in pairs to answer the questions on the sheet given.

• Use the written version of the audio to remind yourself of the main facts

• Discuss your answers with the group

The planet you visited was....

How does Earth compare?

• Using a highlighter pen go back through the written version and highlight all the features you think are the same as on Earth today

• Can you think of any real examples? Think of across the world and your local area

Questions to ask yourself.....

• Did you make judgements about the inhabitants of the fantasy planet?

• Do we make the same judgements about ourselves?

• If not, why not?

Activity 2

• Imagine you are in your spaceship again visiting Earth – but this time in the future

• This time humankind has done all it can to live sustainably

• You still see housing, industry, technology, farming, rural areas and a high standard of living

• But what’s different.......

• In pairs re-write the spaceship log describing what you see and what the inhabitants are doing differently from your first visit

• Present your report to the rest of the group
