Keep it relevant! A STEM employer won’t necessarily want to know about your SATS results or your summer job pulling pints at the local pub!Make it two pages maximum and be concise and to the point. A waffly CV is a bad CV.

It may sound a tad paranoid, but take it from us - employers can, and do, check up on your Facebook when taking you into consideration. Over half of all employers use social media to ‘research’ candidates (CareerBuilder UK), so listen up, this is important!

Is your Facebook page private? If not, make sure that it is. If your potential new boss looks at your profile and the only photos to go by are ones of you drunkenly doing something foolish then it isn’t going to leave a good impression. As a general rule, if you wouldn’t be happy with your gran seeing it, don’t make it visible!
