Perkin Elmer Optoelectronics - iLux uses only the world’s best components, which is why in every iLux system you will find only Perkin Elmer flash tubes (precision made in Germany) featuring high temperature resistive materials for optimum life expectancy, plasma fill (xenon) for maximum light efficiency and quartz glass with a transparent conductive coating for reliable capacitive electrode triggering.

High Quality HEC Capacitors – Super capacitance, low dissipation and high-speed charging ensure maximum accuracy and unbelievably fast recycle times from as quickly as 0.2 s (1.0 s at maximum power)!

Fan Cooling – All iLux RD and CD heads are fan cooled to prevent overheating which means you can just keep on shooting when things get busy. Cooling also helps to extend the longevity of vital electronic components.

Auto-flash dump – This feature ensures that no power is stored in the capacitors while the unit is not in use. Unlike some of the so called ‘premium brands’ we’ve tested, the auto dump feature on all iLux heads worked every single time (500 consecutive flashes)!

Armoured Housing – All iLux systems are encased inside a rubberised, extruded aluminium housing offering your system maximum protection against impacts and life’s other daily little knocks and bumps.

Digital Display – The large digital display mounted on the rear panel of the unit provides clear output level feedback with accuracy of up to 1/10th of a stop!

Stable Output – Analogue circuitry is not entirely accurate and relatively prone to failure. iLux however utilises its onboard digital microprocessor for accurately regulating output ensuring reliable and consistent power and colour temperature levels.

Adjustable Photo Cell – Choose either IR or flash, master-slave triggering depending on shooting conditions.

Audible feedback –You don’t really want to glance at your system’s display every 5 seconds but, depending on what or where you’re shooting, you can’t always have your lights beeping away either. iLux gives you the option of switching the audible feedback function on or off.

Stepless power control – iLux gives you complete and accurate control over your lighting setup, from 1/32 power to full power and any endless number of choices in between!

Modelling lamp control – iLux offers you a choice between independent and proportional* modelling light control.

*i.e. the intensity of your modelling lights is set directly proportional to your selected flash output setting.

‘iPort’ included – With every RD and CD series kit, you also receive an ‘iPort’ system with 1x hot shoe mounted, 4-channel radio trigger PLUS a mains powered (in-line) radio receiver.

Kitbag – For safe and easy transportation, iLux includes a handy kitbag with double castors and telescopic handle with every single iLux kit, plus, you’ll find a second bag for your soft boxes inside your kitbag!

Shoot throughs – Every iLux kit also includes not one but two shoot through brollies. Shoot throughs produce very soft light; they’re ideal for on-axis fill and handy for shooting in tight spaces.

Although not identical, the RD300 is the CD300’s twin sibling. All that differs is the layout of the rear control panel, the location of the power socket and of course the price.

The CD300 kit is an ideal companion for location photographers and it’s also great for small studios or even as a budget or entry level kit.

All iLux heads are sold separately which means that you can also purchase a single CD300 head as a small kicker, background or hair light.

For larger groups or special studio applications, you might have to bring out the big guns.

The CD500 will deliver all the punch you need, when you need it but by the same token, it can be as delicate as a flower and still 100% accurate down to even 1/32 output!

iLux soft boxes are made with high quality diffusive materials that will not yellow overnight like many cheaper brands.

As the name suggests, iLux ‘Easy Box’ is quick and easy to install and folds away neatly for photographers on the go. ‘Auto Box’ features high quality, reflective inner panels ensuring peak light efficiency and a directional but highly even and diffuse beam. Auto Box opens just like an ordinary umbrella making it a doddle to set-up. iLux’s ‘Rectangle’ and ‘Octagon’ soft boxes further include a stretched, inner baffle to ensure optimum light quality.

There is a wide range* of shapes and sizes to choose from and the universal, ‘S-type’ speed ring (‘Auto Box and Rectangle- and Octagon Soft Boxes) allows easy rotation of the light fixture and cross compatibility with other brands.

iLux light stands are constructed out of a special lightweight, heavy-duty aluminium alloy making them ideal not only for studio but location shooting as well. These stands feature a non-slip twist lock for quick and easy set-up, an air cushioned support column to protect the light fixture from accidental impact and a wide spread leg base for additional stability but which can also be adjusted for shooting in tighter spaces.*
