What needs to be done to address this issue

• Labour market analysis, requirements of competencies & skills at the workplace (identify the relevant skills to workplace)

• More practical knowledge subjects at schools

• Focus on institutional capacity building (people, facilities, equipment, other resources)

• Equal distribution (Rural vs urban)

• Information flow of workplace at schools, assistance to

career teachers of update in the industries

Who takes the lead ? And when… ?

• Government take the lead (or facilitate)

• However Profession organizations, employer’s associations, trade unions, NGO’s or even the student organizations can play great role to assist or take a leading role

• When ? Some of them in short terms ie written guidance.

• More formal partnership structures in longer term

What needs to be done to address this issue

• Create a web site ie www.youthemployment.com - features linkages to other countries in the regions. Contains all the information that youth may require (job vacancies, how to make applications, guidance in interview etc)

• To form National Training Authority - consist of Tripartite plus, education if not adequately represented by government

• Informal youth committee - forum with innovative approach to sustain youth employment

What needs to be done to address this issue

• Constant promotion of youth employment opportunities - employer’s association, trade unions (through publications, guest speakers, coaching or association web pages)

• Jobs / career counseling by employers or workers associations including job matching

• Innovative training arrangements by employers

• Directing them to ILO manual/guideline to youth employment which will be published on the net (links to youth web site)
