Dear Hereford Breeders, Juniors and Friends,Welcome to the Illini Top Cut, 5th Edition, with Emphasis on Genetic Excellence. Again, the

Illini Top Cut Breeders: KPY Polled Herefords, Lorenzen Farms, Lowderman Cattle Company, Swigart Herefords, McCaskill Farms and Loehr Hereford Farm are pleased to offer this outstanding line up, with guest consignors Bloomberg family and Rustic Oaks Farm. As the name implies, only the top cut sells — presenting YOU, the buying public, the opportunity of buying over 30 fancy show heifer prospects, over 15 select bred heifers, 15 young cow/calf pairs (most with heifer calves at side), and a few select show steers — 50 lots in total. Also selling your pick of the ’07 heifer calf crop, the opportunity to flush your choice cow and pick of the steers from Lorenzen Farms as well as the opportunity to flush the cow that was part of the Champion Cow-calf at the Eastern Regional, Wisconsin State Fair and Illinois State Fair from Bloomberg and Rustic Oaks Farm. I encourage you to study the pedigrees, as each lot is from the heart of their respective herds, backed by powerful cow families and breed leading sires.

"Success is not a Goal, rather a Pathway" (Author, unknown):Results are measured in different ways for different people. Production comes to the

forefront. Animals and genetics from the previous sales have been accepted by breeders throughout the United States. Showring results are also to be considered. A member of the Illini Top Cut has exhibited at least one of the champions at the Illinois State Fair for the past 12 years, with many times, both champions represented. The breeders have also bred, raised, and/or shown at least two National Champions. Numerous division winners on the national and state level have also been achieved. Last year’s sale offering has again excelled for their new owners. These cattle placed successfully at the Junior National Expo and their respective state fairs. We are all very proud of these accomplishments, and look forward to sharing our genetics again this year.

BELIEVE: a simple word that has a powerful meaning! A word, that has meant a great deal to the Lowderman Family, especially, the last decade. But for each of us that is involved in the Illini Top Cut, we BELIEVE. We BELIEVE in raising and providing top quality Hereford genetics. We BELIEVE in our product, and we BELIEVE that our genetics need to provide a premium for our clients/customers. We BELIEVE in building relationships and we BELIEVE in the youth of America as they are our future. We BELIEVE Hereford Cattle play a vital role in the beef industry chain. We BELIEVE that the Illini Top Cut members are positioned for the long haul in the livestock industry, and we look forward to continuing our relationships and building new success stories.

This is a family event — hosted by families for families. Fond treasured memories and friendships have been gained by our experiences over the years raising cattle and attending conferences, field days, sales and shows. We look forward to making many new friends and memories, and welcome you to West Central Illinois on September 16, 2007. We feel you can buy with confidence, and we look forward to your attendance and inspection of the sale offering.

• A truly special individual that’s a proven donor! It’s with a great deal of mixed emotions that we off er this female because of what she has contributed to the LCC program, but our loss becomes your opportunity to enhance your herd’s genetic base. Her dam is none other than one of the most recognizable and proven power donors in the breed — Rockin Erica 38F. Erica 321K is one of those special cows that out produces herself time aft er time. We would all agree that the goal is to be able to enhance traits with each generation and this power cow will do just that. She has produced several high sellers in past sales, including a daughter that sold to Andrew Albin, another to White Willow as well as a herd sire for Holden Herefords in Connecticut and another for Ridgeview Farm and Plum River Ranch, which was the 2006 Illinois State Fair Grand Champion Bull and the 2007 Wisconsin State Fair Reserve Grand Champion Bull. We have several daughters in our herd and you can easily pick them out in the pasture. Erica 321 herself is a huge bodied, massive middled, extremely sound structured specimen that ties extraordinary femininity with the “body-like look” from end to end along with maintaining superb udder quality. It hurts to part with this special female, but that must signify she’s a great one! It’s your opportunity to own value added genetics at its best. We will try to breed her back before sale day.

• A really fancy daughter of our proven Erica donor. A maternal sister in last year’s sale was the high selling lot to Andrew Albin and a maternal brother was the Champion Bull at the 2006 Illinois State Fair. We could go on and on about 321K and the job she has done for us, but this is the time to concentrate on the beauty of 7113. She’s sired by Wideload who, of course, sired the National Champion, Reload, and has produced many winners for Able Acres. Th is young lady off ers all the style and power one could desire and wraps it up into a smooth patterned, feminine package that will excel on green grass. Erikka is a big topped, square hipped, massive middled prospect that blends into a very attractive front end. Folks talk about value added genetics and this one fi ts the mold. Considering her heritage and genetic predictors combined with her visual advantages, this heifer is headed to the forefront of the Hereford of the future.

• A sweet made 3-year-old with a beautiful udder. Her dam sells as Lot 1A and she sure bleeds through into this young productive cow. Her pedigree incorporates some of the breed’s most recognizable maternal lines, including the notable Rockin Erica 38F. She had an excellent bull calf this year that we are retaining due to the cow power this line off ers. Th is female has an extremely bright future ahead of her with endless opportunities for her new owner considering her proven pedigree, genetic indicators and phenotypic advantages. Buy this one and reap the benefi ts with each calf she raises for you. Sells bred to LCC Colonel 413 ET.

• A truly special individual that has unlimited potential. Her dam has developed into some kind of a power cow, producing several high sellers within this sale and was a class winner herself at the Junior Nationals. Her sire, Inferno, produced several outstanding calves for us this year and this one is at the forefront. If you’re looking for a serious show candidate, this heifer has the goods. She’s as pleasing from the profi le as you can make one, along with the extra extension, strength of top, levelness of hip and a hind leg structure that is demanded in the showring. Th is young lady doesn’t sacrifi ce the cow look with all these attributes. She’s an extremely sound footed, soft made female with great depth and shape to her rib, which blends into an ultra-sweet front end that says “Look at me”! Tracy’s fl awless design, combined with a balanced set of numbers and proven pedigree make her a top choice for the tanbark as well a true brood matron that will add value to anyone’s herd. A maternal sister was a 2006 Ohio State Fair Division Champion for the Beanblossom family.

program. Th eir mother, 24K, quite simply has done more for us than any cow we’ve ever owned, as numerous daughters and herd sires are working in various herds. 701 is a big time show candidate with an abundance of body and power. Her sire, Pounder, has been used very successfully across the country and worked extremely well on 24K. Th is heifer is gorgeous to look at from the profi le, off ers extra growth and performance, has exceptional length of top and blends into a neat and attractive front end. She comes out of her shoulder into an enormous midsection with extra depth and spring of rib and travels exceptionally fl uid and smooth off all four corners. 701 is destined to bring her new owner a return on their investment considering her genetic background, visual advantages and EPD profi le. She’s here today, but bred and built to meet the needs of tomorrow’s Hereford industry. 701 is the 2007 Illinois State Fair Reserve Calf Champion, Land of Lincoln.

Dam is the grandam of the 2007 Junior National Division Champion for Mitchell Tucker. Here again, we can’t say enough about the job 24K has done for us and the kind of power donor she has developed into. She’s producing many of the top sellers we have had in past sales and 704 is one of the best ever. Th is heifer has a unique combination of power, mass, style and balance. She’s super long and clean fronted and her neck ties in near perfectly on top of her shoulders. 704 is big bodied and off ers an easy doing look in the middle section of her skeleton with added depth of fl ank. Couple this with the fact that she’s set extremely square and thick out of her hip with extra dimension, and this female is a true brood cow prospect. calves out of our 413 Donor that came from Mill Creek Ranch and sired by “Kooter” a Reserve National Champion. Th ese two heifers are very special and tie so many positive attributes together. 7114 herself is a defi nite power cow in the making! She carries an abundance of rib and body on an extremely sound running gear. She just looks like a female through her head and neck with great levelness and shape out of her hip and from behind. We like these heifers so much we fl ushed 413 back the same way and if it wasn’t for having more embryos, these two females would defi nitely not be sold. Without question this heifer will show for her new owner, but most importantly she’s the kind that needs to be in a donor program some day. We are excited about the progeny out of 413 and when you see these two heifers, we are sure you’ll know why. 7114 was the 2007 Illinois State Fair Reserve Horned Calf Champion. Horned.

Not only does she inherit advantages from the Boomer line as well as the Lauren cow family, but incorporates these traits together with the quality look that Inferno stamps on his off spring, which results in a female that should be a true choice for the serious cowman. 7127 is huge bodied with the right kind of shape to her upper and lower rib that allows for added thickness down her top. She off ers a big, square hip with ample foot and bone on a fl awless running gear. With all this power, she still comes into a very attractive and feminine front end. For as much mass as this female displays, she carries it in a very feminine, sound structured package with a nice look from the side. 751 has always been a favorite around here and if you saw her momma, you would know why as she has added ease of fl esh with excellent teat size and milk fl ow. Th e guesswork is out of the equation here, so buy with confi dence.
