It’s the perfect time to come out and see neighbors and old friends who make their way back home for all the fun. As always, there will be good food, live music and much more for the whole family! Come out to see a magic show, pet some cute animals courtesy of Scovill Zoo’s Mobile Petting Zoo, snack on tasty treats at the Taste of Forsyth or ride some carnival rides. Be sure to visit the First Responders Display at Forsyth Parkway and Weaver Road, and say thank you for their dedication and service to the community. The “Road to the LPGA” passes through town for what appears to be the final time as a field of 144 players competes over 54 holes for a purse of $200,000, the largest in the event’s history. The winner will take home $30,000. This will be the 35th year for the tournament, part of the LPGA’s Symetra Tour, making it the oldest event on the tour. Even with the Village’s role as title sponsor, the tour announced earlier this year that this will be the last year as the tournament has faced challenges locally to land sponsors. Terrific TuesdaysSilly Safaris brings a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds, and bugs to the library on June 18. This live animal show is the perfect blend of fact and fun. Join us June 25 at Forsyth Public Library for the comedy magic of Rick Eugene. Get ready for laughter, surprises, and interactive entertainment! All are welcome to attend our Tuesday shows at 2 p.m. each week, and no registration is required. Create & Discover ThursdaysThe Illinois Extension’s 4-H staff will lead the Kids Cook classes on June 20. Kids will learn more about nutrition and will be able to create some of their own dishes using provided ingredients. Our spring STEAM instructor Cheryl Higgs will be back on June 27 for Showtime STEAM. Come try out some movie-inspired science, technology, engineering, art and math activities. Sign up for either the 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. sessions of these programs at Eventbrite.com by searching for Forsyth Public Library. Thursday programs are for ages 6 and up, and registration is required. Teen and Tween ProgramsOn Wednesday, June 19, Illinois Extension’s 4-H program brings us the Teen/Tween Food Challenge! Teens will go up against their opponents to prepare nutritious meals and snacks in a fun and competitive way, then present each dish to a panel of judges. On June 26, try your hand at dramatic acting with the improv class. Instructor Julia Monette is a part-time actress in Chicago where she starred in the Pinkalicious musical in 2011. Teens will have a chance to learn about improvisation and act together with their peers. Both programs begin at 1 p.m. and require advance registration.

Story TimesCome join the Story Time fun on Fridays at 10 a.m. with themed sessions specifically designed for ages 2-5. On June 21, We’re Going on a Picnic! Then Rock Springs will be here for Frog Music Story Time on June 28. Each session features stories, songs, games and a fun craft to create and take home. Siblings are welcome to attend. Baby TALKParents and caregivers of children ages birth to 3 are welcome to join their youngsters for a time of interaction through story, song, and play led by trained Baby TALK instructors. Baby TALK is at the library every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:15 am. No registration is required.

The Scheuler family gets a head start on their summer reading at Forsyth Public Library. But don’t worry, you still have plenty of time to sign up for summer library activities.

Dance with MeDance and learn with your little one at the library! Join Michi Barber from the Dance Centre at 10 a.m. on June 18 as she encourages development through music and dance. Sessions are geared for ages 16 months through 3 years, but all children not yet in kindergarten are welcome. No registration is required. Family Game ShowBring your family to the library for some family game show fun on Saturday, June 29 from 1-2 p.m. Your family will be challenged with book-inspired Family Feud and mini-games between each round. Five seniors at Maroa-Forsyth High School were recently awarded scholarships through The Community Foundation of Macon County. They include: Reese Bobitt – Golden K. Kiwanis Scholarship and the Robin Vogel Memorial Scholarship; Reilly Fitzpatrick – Golden K. Kiwanis Scholarship; Jillian Hubbard – Susan and Lloyd Swanson Memorial Scholarship; Kathryn Reeser – Golden K. Kiwanis Scholarship; and Alyssa Spencer – Roberta K. Gorden Scholarship. During the law enforcement report on June 3, Deputy Herbert of the Macon County Sheriff’s Office reported to trustees that the recent problems with juveniles causing trouble at and near Hickory Point Mall have slowed to the point where he offered this description: “The

troublemakers aren’t coming up here.” He also said law enforcement is investigating damage to 25 cars at the Cadillac dealership on Koester Drive and looking into a $10,000 fraud case at a local restaurant. On Saturday, June 15, from 5-9 p.m., during Family Fest, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 155 West Forsyth Road in Forsyth, will serve FREE walking tacos, hot dogs and water in a tent near the church. You can watch the Village’s fireworks show, and games will be available for children and adults. Please stop in for this FREE family event! The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
