Single Learning Studio

Classroom that is consciously redesigned to increase the number of learning modalities that can be accomplished within its foir walls.

Learning Suite

Combination of two or more learning studios by removing out the barrier (wall).

Small learning community (SLC)

School-Within-A-School, is a form of school structure that is increasingly common in American secondary schools to subdivide large school populations into smaller, autonomous groups of students and teachers.

Information Access Before and After the Internet

Where are the people? Where are the recorded Ideas or Text?

Pre-Internet Era Looking for things to read in person at the library

At the library, bookshop, newsdealer or record store

Internet Era Using their computers and handheld digital devices to access the Internet; physically freed from the need to be at the library

Online - available for free or to be purchased by individuals or libraries: library copies accessed with member-only intranet services

Future Ready Library - Make it Happen!

Decentralization of some library resources. (Classroom-based mini libraries)

Develop casual reading spaces in the library so that they are inviting and comfortable.

Call for two teachers to volunteer to use the library instead of their classrooms to team-teach

Distribute library resources throughout the school - particularly in commons areas so that reading can happen anytime, anywhere.

Redesign your library interior to incorporate a multimedia recording studio.
