Press releaae of this date from Aufbau, an Azerican weekly in German
and English published in New York City.
"One of the most peefidious Nazi agents seems to be the instigator
of the recent pogroms in CP.Ire during which a yproximately 250 Jews cod
quite a lot of foreigners, among them the American citizen HASS, were
murdered. According to Aufbau, American wee-kly in German and English
the infamous Gestapo agent, Adolf Karl EICENAM, who escaped from a
prisoners camp at Regensburg, (Bavaria) is now in Egypt, anoarentIy
working urdergrourd. EICENANN I s relatives, living at Linz, (Upper
Austria), received news which gives the im pression that EICHMARN
found asylum in Cairo.

frequently and for extended periods. Concerning the subjects cd
conversation which occurred on the occasions mentioned above I have

chief of Ant IV of the RSNA, MUELLER, and most especially for the Chief
of Jewish matters, Adolf ETCHMANN. Concerning EICHMANN, ho informed .
me repeatedly that JOINT (or some 'other international Jewish organi-

was supposed to collect eine° I certainly knew where EICFSANN was.

This would be an imuortant t:ing to do and nought be paid for from the

diffident in this matter although I knew that EICHVANN was not at the

learning of the life sentence given KAPPLER by the Italians.

EICHMANN was an early member of the SD, in the old SD-Htuptamt IT/111
(Juden-Referat) under Stubs! HAGEN, with whom he, on HEY'IRICH I e ordern, is
said to have visited Palestine in 1937. In 1938 he was in Vienna where,
in order to facilitate emigration of the Jews, he organized the 2entral-
stelle fuer Jae-dist:he Auswanderer; later he was commissioned to organize
similar inutituttens in Berlin and Prague. In 1942, HEYDRICH put him it
charge of a special Referat, the Reaumungsreferat„ with the purpose of

Thi2 wan under Ant IV B. For executive purposes, EICHHANN had a Sondcx-
kommando with which he travelled about" His assistant, Stubs: GUENTHER,
and several members of the Sondorkewmando were SD members (as =MUNN
himself remained) while administrative details were handled largely by
Gestapo personnel.

of lannuLEn OF Amt rv, but often EICHUANN received direct orders from
MICHEL in the case of Hungary, EICHMANN was called by TALTENBRUNNER to
liquidate the Jewish problem. There, as elsewhere, be was on the staff
of the highest ranking police meetings and reported to WINNELMANH. The
relations between EICBNANN and the Sonderkommando 1005 under Standarten-
fuehrer Paul HLOBEL, who carried out exterminations, are unclear. A-paron -
tly EICHNANN merely delivered the goods, while the Sonderkemmando worked
independently, under mamas and (in part) under WELLER. At any rate,
EICHMANN was unable to tell HIMMIER in Spetember 15 04h exactly how sway

utilised all available police facilities without obtaining official
authorisation. Upon finding and arresting EICFMANN, sUbilect was turned
over to Simon WIESENTRALito arranged for a chartered aircraft to carry
EICHMANN to Israel. The aircraft was to file *flight plan for an east,
Mediterranean country (undisclosed), drop off =MANN in Israel, and
continue to the original destination without disclosing the landing in
Israel. II Istates that the crew of the aircraft was paid A con-

12. After arrival in Israel, it would be announced that EICHMANK ham
been reported as an officer in the Arab Litton. According to plan, EICE-
UAN would be reported as a POE some six months after the announcement of
his presence in the Arab Legion, This would cover the means by which
2ICHMANN cams into Jyrieh hands, and vould leave the explanation of hin
activities prior to capture to someone else.
