Bangalore fashion designer duo Seema Bagaria and Archana Kanoria of Iksenya promise a collection that redefines the sari in the fashion world! From Bangalore to Benaras to Bengal, the collection strives to understand weaves from a traditional level and marry it to radical ideas with the help of colours, textures and weave structures of the saris. This collection of exquisite sarees, in unique colour palettes, with delicate embellishment and a touch of class, promises to add that perfect touch of glitz and glamour to your wardrobe! Six Yards- refers to the length of a conventional saree, while counting reflects the thread count on a handloom- thus like warp and weft come together to create a myriad of different textiles, this collection too brings together the efforts and involvement of the designers as well as expertise of a weaving specialist to create a truly magical range of sarees. Six Yards & Counting is a textile triumph: classic weaves with unusual embroidery choices, a fabric mix that offers handloom crepes and chiffons and the luxury of different silks against the modern convenience of Lycra and Tencel. Each saree is dress code compliant – fitting in with ease at cocktails, formal dinners and even the most traditional occasions and festivals. The colour palette too pushes the style envelope. The union of vibrancy and neutrals mines the potential of aligning blood reds, searing pinks and oranges with inks, steel and muted mustards. A series of bold coloured sarees in different weaving styles also finds a place in this collection. Archana explains how the third colour that gets created by the intersection of the warp and weft is unattainable in other kind of saris. This makes the palette richer and pro- duces an enigmatic effect. The Bengal saris will come with a mix of unusual materials and an interesting play of fabric while the Benaras saris will have unique motifs along with the traditional and famous bro- cade work. The Bangalore saris are also designed to push the limits of hand woven fabrics with intricate handpicking. The forward thinking and conceptualization of the saris is not just with the play of materials, but with the structure of the sari. The handlooms are an attractive space for any textile and fashion designer. The collection focuses on glorifying the possibilities on the handloom and to collaborate with the weavers to make something exclusive and special. Revival is a strong motivational goal for the designer duo. They have worked closely with the artisans of Sathnur near Bangalore, who practice weaving. Weaving has endless possibilities, and with the motivation to set trends and push the envelope of the traditional art form, they have successfully achieved their execution of their second woven collection. Seema predicts a comeback of weaves in a big way in the In- dian fashion industry.

This makes the palette richer and pro-duces an enigmatic effect.

The Bengal saris will come with a mix of unusual materials and an interesting play of fabric while the Benaras saris will have unique motifs along with the traditional and famous bro-cade work.

Seema predicts a comeback of weaves in a big way in the In-dian fashion industry.
