The purpose of this twirl is to get all the members of the sophomore chiss acquainted with each other, (.lass officers decided that it was about lime everyone knew everyone else, so that in future years, when class reunions are held, they will really be reunions on a big scale. Weekly Concerts Renewed With a renewal of the weekly musi- cals presented in the Great Court, Drexel was favored on Thursday, January 9, with a concert by Mr. Harry Martyn. A leading baritone in the Philadelphia area, Mr. Martyn rendered several standard numbers from his repertoire, including Rom- berg’s “Stout-Hearted Men” and “The Road to Mandalay.” Accompaniment was furnished by Miss Florence Kerk, who will present a recital of her own in a future Court program. Mr. Martyn. who also is recognized in this section for his fine work on I he Harmony Hall program, aired via Station KYW'^, is featured at the First Methodist Church in Ocean City, New' Jersey, during the summer season. Popular movements from concertos by Rachmaninoff and Greig, played by two students of Dr. William Thim- der. highlighted yesterday’s program. The orchestral sections of these works were played by Dr. Thunder himself on the Drexel organ. A performance by the Drexel Band will be the high point of January 23’s concert. Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” will be rendered by Carol Swans»)n. a Home Economics student, on January 30, in the auditorium. Organ accompaniment will be fur- nished by Mr. Wallace Heaton. It is requested that all students refrain from any unnecessary noise during all weekly concerts. As n result, no one’s listening pleasure will be impaired. January 4th. and is now being carried on at the intlividual parties being given by each of the sororities. All September freshmen, uppcrclass- men and transfers who have attained a !<cli«>la^lic average of 78 an<l who have no more than one condition and no failures are eligible for initiation into any one of the sororities. This jiast week foiir of the local sororities had informal parties for the freshmen, planned to further acquaint the selecte»l girls with the active girls of the sorority, and to familiarize them with the aims an<l purposes of the organization. Delta Phi Epsilon started the festivities with a card party on Monday evening at which lime various games were played; refreshments were served; and the group gathered for informal singing. Tuesday evening. Alpha Sigma Al- pha entertained the freshnn'n at a Nariely Radio Show which included ^kits. singing, ilancing and refresh- ments. Tlieta Sigma Upsilon’s and Sigma Sigma Sigma’s parlies on We<l- nesday and Thursday evenings respec- tively were informal affairs at which freshmen got lo know upperclassmen and enjoyed an t'vening of games, group singing, and talks on the pur- poses of sororities. The date for the Kappa Phi Delta Smoker has not been set, but after that one the ofTicial silence period will begin. During the 3-day silence period no fraternity members are allowed to speak to a riishee, and if they are found disobeying this rule they will be fined. Acceptance dinners will be held by each of the fraternities at which time the rushees will signify the frater- nity of their choice by attending the dinner al the chosen house. To be rushed, men must be in their second term of school or higher, and have not more than five credits defi- cient from previous terms. Any re- turning veteran who matriculated in Drexel before his entry into the serv- ice may be rushed his first term hack, but cannot be pledged until the fol- lowing term. Alpha I'i Lambda will open the series of aclivilies with their Smoker on January 20lh. They will lie fol­lowed by Theta Chi, January 23rd; 'I'aii Kappa Epsibm, January 27th; Pi Kappa Phi, January 30th, and LamlxIa Chi Alpha, February 3rd. The date for the Kappa Phi Delta Smoker has not been set, but after that one the ofTicial silence period will begin.

During the 3-day silence period no fraternity members are allowed to speak to a riishee, and if they are found disobeying this rule they will be fined.

Acceptance dinners will be held by each of the fraternities at which time the rushees will signify the frater­nity of their choice by attending the d inner al the chosen house.

To be rushed, men must be in their second term of school or higher, and have not more than five credits defi­cient from previous terms. Any re ­turning veteran who matriculated in Drexel before his entry into the serv­ice may be rushed his first term hack, but cannot be pledged until the fol­lowing term.
