Battery Operated Rickshaws
In an eco-friendly drive on campus, a number of Battery Operated Rickshaws were started on campus since July 2013. The rickshaws are proving to be an efficient substitute for the existing manual rickshaws. The rickshaws have the capacity of ordinary rickshaws (Dimensions of 2700X1000X1750 (mm)) and can take a load of 350kg. They only have a charge time of 5-7 hours. As expected, they are proving to be an instant success with the students readily jumping onto this “electric” bandwagon. These rickshaws are very famous in campus.

MY LOVE***** MY TEMPLE OF LEARNING- MY ALMA MATER- ROORKEE
I wake up with fragrance all around meOpening my eyelids
From my old Fiat car running on zig-zag broken roadI see around beautiful landscape
Moving with me so smoothly
All rows of trees on both sides, loadedWith mangos and leeches inviting me to reach them
My chauffeur announced with sigh of reliefIn his voice 'destination is reached in few moments'
I smelt it, literally just by its fragrance that he said it right!
I reached my abode of learning, my Alma Mater!I felt we both were missing for a while
I felt as if she was awaiting me so long with her open armsI came out of my car swiftly and started
Walking on narrow and dwindling road and pathways
I reached green lavish grass carpetsAll around in front of Main Building
Inviting me as ever to rest and roll over themAnd to view a beautiful and magnificent proud vista of my Alma Mater
As if inviting me to touch her feetI felt as if I am touching feet of
Goddess mother of learning to bless me as alwaysShe blessed me every time
As she did to thousands of us all over in her long long cherished lifeChanging her names often over the Century, astonishingly
In few moments I walked into corridor of Rolls of HonorsOf illustrious alumni who constantly enrich Alma Mater
To make her proud every moment and always
Saluting them all, I walked into a gallery of GalaxyOf stars as Heads who all guided shaping of us all
A Tribute to Alma Mater by Prof. S. K. Khanna

Interwoven small stretches of narrow lanes communicatingHappily, led me to hefty Silver Oak trees standing steadilyLong for many years, as if waiting to welcome her home
Into the loving fold of my Alma Mater
Close by are the rows of tall buildings of learningLooking fresh as ever profusing knowledge to
Young ones excitingly
Walking all over through places of work and learningResources make me feel privileged
Of my possession of prestige and prosperity through them
From top of tall buildings, for beyond is the visionOf skyline of foothills of Himalaya ranges
Offering prayers to constantly flowing piousGanges into Canal as garland to my Alma Mater
I salute her to return to my destinyWith a promise to return to her soon
