Intel is a hardware development company that has been making computer components for many decades.

In 1971, Intel publicly released the world’s first CPU.

The Intel 4004 was a 4 bit CPUthat ran at a speed of 740Khz.

CPU is an acronym for the (Central Processing Unit). This is the part in any computer that performs all the calculations and mathematics.

CPUs have developed rapidly over the years. Over the last 10 years, the speed and efficiency of the CPU has gone up by almost 10 times. This is due to new technology such as multi-cores and smart-cache.

The core i7 CPU has set a new benchmark for computing performance. As can be seen in the diagram, the higher the rating, the more efficient the CPU. The i7-940 which is the higher of the range is actually 47% more efficient than the baselinequad-core processor.

The i7 gets its efficiency from the technologies given to it. The use of Hyper-threading (a multi core technology used by Intel)

The i7 has, a never before herd of, 8 hyper-threads. These hyper-threads allow the computer to perform more tasks at the same time as the load of the tasks is split up between the cores in the CPU.
