Dharam Singh has urged the Union and the State governments to establish the proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Raichur and said that the Nanjundappa Committee had also recommended the establishment of an IIT in Raichur district to remove the imbalances in providing professional education in the region. Speaking after releasing a special edition of local Kannada Daily Kannada Bandhu as part of its 42nd anniversary here on Thursday, Mr. Dharam Singh said that the unanimous demand of the people of the region was that the IIT should be established in Raichur and the government should honour the sentiments of the people.
