Test Analysis
IPM (IIM Indore)
IIM Indore conducted an entrance exam on May 15,
2014 for admission to the 5 year Integrated
Management Program. The exam was held across
the country at the various designated centers.
It was a 2 hours exam containing 100 questions- out
of which 60 questions were on Quantitative Ability
and rest 40 on Verbal Ability. There were multiple
choices for each question, wherein, each correct
answer gave 4 marks and each wrong answer was
penalized by deducting 1 mark. The students who
gave the exam said that the Quantitative Ability
section was tough whereas Verbal Ability section
was easy, so, they overall rated the level as difficult
for IIM Indore aptitude test 2014.
A breakup of the question paper is given below with
an analysis of each section:
Section Maximum
Marks
Difficulty
level
Quantitative
Ability
240 Difficult
Verbal Ability 160 Easy-Moderate
Total 400 Moderate
Quantitative Ability:
This was the difficult section wherein the number of
question was 60. Unlike last year, this was the
difficult section and most students faced difficulty in
attempting the same. There were questions from
topics like algebra, geometry & mensuration,
logarithms, permutation & combination, set theory,
probability, numbers, profit & loss, ratio &
proportion, time speed & distance, mixtures etc. The
questions on higher mathematics were difficult and
time consuming.
According to the students’ feedback and the level of
difficulty observed, a good score can be 35-38
correct answers.
Verbal Ability:
This was easier of the two sections. There were a
total of 40 questions in this section. This included
questions from reading comprehensions, one on
unmanned underwater naval drones & their uses and
second on development in India and the expansion
of mobile phone technology in the country. Other
topics were para-jumbles, antonyms & synonyms,
word usage questions, sentence corrections, analogy
based questions, fill in the blanks, and para
completion.
Out of all the above topics, questions on analogy
were a little complex. As per the students’ review,
an expected attempt of 35 to 37 questions should be
a fair deal and thus, this section is rated as easy to
moderate.
According to students’ views, we would rate this
entrance exam as a mix of complexity and easiness.
The exam would be a fair deal wherein the students
who have attempted around 195 to 220 questions
should expect to get a call from the university.
For 121 seats, around 1200 candidates can expect to
get a call for the next round of admission. The
admission criteria carry a weightage of 60% for
written exam and 40% for personal interview. The
results are expected to be declared on June 16, 2014
and classes will commence from August 4, 2014.
All the Best to all students for your Results!
