What can be measured?

• Outputs: products of SI process -> easy to measure• Impacts: effects, delayed in time, direct or indirect

results of SI intervention -> harder to observe, follow and assess

• Forms and types of impact:– Social Capital– Social Value– Social Worth– Awareness– Increased participation– Adopting social innovation as common practice

Types of methods and tools

• Ex-ante, interim, ex-post• Most used tools (SROI, TOC, RCT, SCBA)• Initially developed from funding schemes• Solid scientific background and versatility• Social projects -> Social innovation projects• Same impact Process of intervention

In the end?

• Solely one method = inadequate measurement• Combination of tools depends on situation at hand• Differences between the scope of projects,

enterprises• Social dimension -> dynamic and changing one• Safest way: comparison between end results and

desired results
