Who Qualifies?• I.H.S. currently has over 500 Migrant students

• Travel to seek work in agriculture, packing, fishing, dairy, livestock, or forestry in the last 6 months to qualify for services

PFS Students (Priority for Services)

• I.H.S. currently has 129 PFS Migrant students– Receive services prior to other migrant students

• Designated as Priority for Service if:– Scored at level 1 or level 2 on the FCAT, or– Has an age/grade discrepancy, or– Failing to meet state graduation requirementsAND– Education interrupted during the regular school year

Programs/Services Provided• C.A.M.P. (College Assistance Migrant Program)• H.E.P. (High School Equivalency Program)• S.T.A.Y. (Striving To Achieve Yearly)• Scholarship Workshops• Vision & Dental Screening (limited)• Transportation (limited)• Credit Recovery

C.A.M.P.(College Assistance Migrant Program)

• College program that assists migrant students with tuition and helps with the transition to college

• Colleges that have visited this year:– USF– MSU– OLLU– ABAC

H.E.P.(High School Equivalency Program)

• Program for students to obtain their GED

• Students go to USF, iTECH, or MSU

• 2-6 week program

S.T.A.Y.(Striving To Achieve Yearly)

• Program for Migrant students to work part-time after school

• Also helps students with:– Interview process– Resume writing

PTS (Pathways To Scholarships)

• 1 day workshop that assists students with:– Personal essays– Resume writing– Letters of recommendation– Researching colleges– Filling out college applications and scholarships

• Follow-up throughout the year to complete portfolio

Vision Services• West Florida Eye – Dr. Azizi

• Exam, lenses, and frames paid through Migrant funds

Christina’s Smiles• Dental service provided to Migrant students 1 time

a year

• 180 students in Collier County were provided with this service

Transportation• Transportation is provided for:– Taking students to and from school– S.T.A.Y. jobs– Taking students to get their physicals for sports– Parents to go to Dr’s appointments

Credit Recovery• Offer credit recovery through PASS and EdOptions– Edoptions – Computer based– PASS – Booklets

• Students can be assigned to the MC for EdOptions or take the class on their own time

• PASS is portable (students can take with them if they have to move)

Other Services Provided• Supplies• ACT/FCAT prep (provided through MP3 program)• Assistance with filling out college applications and

FAFSA• Help with finding and filling out scholarship

applications• Florida Virtual• Refer students to Immokalee Foundation,

Guadalupe Center, Teen Trendsetters
